Is this a part of my Aspergers?!

Question: I have Aspergers and I sometimes get voices in my head and think that I will get kidnapped or someone will break into my house and things like that. Is that a part of my disorder or is it something else????? I know this sounds weird but it actually happens and it scares me.
Thanks in advance.

Answers: Asperger Syndrome is a type of Autism - my brother has Asperger's too. I have read about Asperger and I do not recall the symptoms you are describing linked to this disorder. My concern is that it is schizophrenia, bipolar mania or another disorder. The people on Y/A are not medical professionals, nor am I - my best advise to you is to discuss this with your doctor. If you have been diagnosed with Aspergers, then I am assuming you have a psychiatrist or a neurologist. You need to tell your parents and schedule an appointment to discuss this with the doctor who has been assisting you with the Asperger. The symptoms you have described sound scary, however, you are alert to the fact that they are not real and have reached out looking for answers - you are very smart! There are medications that the doctors can prescribe that can help this stop. Please talk to your parents or if your older, make the appointment this week to see your doctor. I can't tell you 100% if this is related to the Asperger's syndrome or not - I have only done a limited amount of reading on the disorder - please, please talk to your doctor. Good luck to you - you sound like a very bright person even though you are dealing with a lot! My best wishes to you - I know first hand how hard it is to live with Aspergers - I see what my brother goes through.

The man above me is wrong - Asperger's Syndrome is a type of Autism and you can feel emotions - this is why I'm concerned for you asking this question on Y/A - people on here do not always offer the best advise - sweety, please call your doctor. You sound so smart and I wish the best for you - only your doctor will be able to help you figure out what is going on.
