Has the catholic church approved the chemical treatment for mental illness?!

Question: I never heard that they disapproved of that.

I have a friend who is Catholic and is getting treatment for Bipolar Disorder. I never heard of it being an issue for Catholics.

I was never Catholic, but I went to a Catholic college. We did have a class called "Ethics" which included a anti-abortion reading materials but I don't recall anything against treating mental illness with medication.
