Is there a cure or ANYTHING to help insomnia?!


Question: I'm a chronic insomniac.....i want to sleep, but my mind won't allow me. My back && neck hurt, && i am physically drained.....yet, I'm still. awake. PLEASE HELP! && medicine is not an option! Sorry, but it just isn't for me.

As you have said that you don't want to go down the medication route, are the non-medicine treatments and various other non-drug treatments such as aromatherapy (works for some) or noise treatment.

White Noise works for some of my family members. That's when there's a background noise. There are radio-like devices that basically play back noises like rainfall, wind rustling leaves, wildlife noises, that sort of thing. Rainfall works to relax me.

Meditation is something I picked up for anxiety and stress mitigation. That works for me. Look that up sometime for the mind being too active to allow sleep.

You mention back/neck pain. Is your sleeping area comfortable enough? Have you tried a pillow that's stiffer or softer than your current one? If it's an old pillow, replace it asap. Try getting a one-inch thick mattress pad to help with an uncomfortable mattress if you can't afford or don't want to replace your current one for now.

Teas that contain chamomile help me wind down at the end of a hellish day. Other flavors or scents that appeal to you without making you hungry/thirsty may work better for you however. Try some sleepytime tea (celestial seasonings) or an equivalent brand/variety, as these contain chamomile. I'm sure there are other teas that could help.

I know a lot of this advice could sound dumb, but try some with an open mind. Try whatever is within your personal comfort zone.
