I can't sleep wtf?!


Question: lately ive been having a really hard time sleeping.

usually ill start to drift off ONCE. but if while im transitioning into the "dream" part where my brain takes control of me i realize hey wow im starting to dream ill become aware of my surroundings and then just lay there in the dark for like 5 hours before getting tired of not sleeping and getting up.

its usually about 12 hours before i can sleep from getting another "chance" at sleeping.

it seems like i cant tune myself out of my surroundings. my eyes are closed but i can still "feel" everything around me and after that first time i never start to drift off again.

i get a headache, if i think about complicated things i stay awake and if i think about simple stuff that relaxes me my head gets bored and darts to something else

like tonight. i started to drift off by drawing a stick figure in my head and slowly making it more complicated. i got a world going for it but then realized sweet im dreaming, and boom consious


Answers: Sounds like you have yourself in a nasty pattern.
Try limiting your caffeine during the day and don't drink anything with caffeine or alcohol after 8:00pm.
Learn some mind quieting techniques.
Try playing "white sound" recordings at your bedside.
Take a warm bath. Have a nice cup of decaf tea.
Masturbation will help you to relax, if you wish.
Finish solving the days problems before you retire and realize that it's OK to save some for tomorrow.
Imagine your mind is a radio. Turn the imaginary knob off and make your mind a blank.
If you are spiritual, give your cares to your higher power; surrender them for the night.
