Do children today suffer more stress and anxiety than a generation ago?!

Question: And if so why?

Answers: They certainly do compared to when I was growing up in the 50-60s. We were allowed to play out in the woods, cycle down country lanes to visit our school friends, go places on our own. The only exam we had to worry about was the 11 plus, no SATS every few years.
As teenagers we did not have to worry about having the latest mobile phone, i-pod or computer game. We could travel around on the bus or walk the streets without being robbed by older teenagers. We were into fashion, and sure there was the whole Mods/Rockers thing. But on the whole we didn't have the material pressures teenagers have now. We also seemed to have more social life - we were always going to rock gigs, parties, or just hanging out at each other's houses. It was also much easier to get a flat or bedsit, there was no still living at home until you were 30.
I could go on, but I'm starting to sound like a grumpy old man!
