Answers:
I currently take Lexapro; I have taken it for a couple of months and I just turned 18 in December!. I have not experienced any noticeable side effects in the medicine, but I have definitely noticed a decrease in my anxiety!. The doctor is the expert, but if you're really feeling unsure about having your sister taking the medication, get a second opinion from a medical professional!. I hope I helped:)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm taking lexapro and I'm 15!!!
It works super well!. Believe me!. It's worth it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try it at the smallest dose for three weeks and see how she does!. When they work for a person SSRI's can be life changing and alleviate panic disorder and anxietyWww@Answer-Health@Com

i dont think you should there is a reson you have to be 18Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was on that & I am 22!. At 2 weeks I could feel a little better & at 4 weeks a little more better!. Consult the doc about that question though!. However I do believe that the under 18 thing applies 2 Zoloft or mainly antidepressiants!. Lexapro is not souly for depression but also anxiety!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Please put more details about the situation!.!.!.

What has the doctor diagnosed her with!? Depression!? Anxiety!? PTSD!? What!?

"Stress" could mean anything!

PLEASE REMEMBER:

MENTAL ILLNESS IS NOTHING TO BE EMBARRASED ABOUT OR ASHAMED OF!!!

She/You wouldn't be embarrassed if she had diabetes! So why be ashamed of another MEDICAL CONDITION that can be treated!?!?

PLEASE keep that in mind!

It is a misnomer that people under 18 "Shouldn't" take antidepressants!.!.!.

If she NEEDS them then denying her treatment would be a HORRIBLE thing to do!.

The issue with antidepressants and teens is that IN SOME it can increase the risk of a successful suicide!.!.!.

BUT

Keep in mind that the average rate of suicide for depression is about 20%!.

THIRTY THOUSAND PEOPLE A YEAR KILL THEMSELVES IN THE U!.S!. ALONE!.

Is there a "Risk"!? Yes!.!.!. There is a risk with ANY medication, herb!.!.!. Even FOOD!

But I would rather take the risk and get her help for her issues then to deny her treatment and have her off herself because of the illness!!

Depression, Anxiety, Stress, PTSD!.!.!. With your parents dead, she may be experiencing ANY or ALL of those!

Let her take the pills and just keep an eye on her!

If they work, then SPECTACULAR!

IF they don
