First of all, don't listen to these people telling you that you need 8 or 9 or more hours of sleep per night!. Everyone's body is different and requires different things!. The difference between 7 and 8 hours is so minimal that the righteous indignation of obvious idiots like Brett above are asinine!.
Throughout college I worked full time and took between 18 and 22 units (double major)!. I slept an average of 4-5 hours/night during the week and 6-7 on the weekends!. I kept that up for four years and was in the best health of my life!. I hit the gym 5 days a week and adapted my diet to match my lifestyle!. As LEM stated above, finding out your personal sleep cycle is far more important than some number dictating a generically-prescribed amount of sleep!.
Having said that, if you are falling asleep in the middle of class after getting a relatively full night of sleep, you are obviously not getting enough rest for your own body or you are not fueling it properly!. I don't know the first thing about nutrition for 10th-grade girls, but perhaps you should look into higher carb intake and more energy-filled food in general!. Also, you should evaluate the kind of sleep you are getting!. Many people waste time sleeping 8-10 hours/night but their sleep is of poor quality and they are not really getting the rest they require!. Something as simple as a change of pillow or a humidifier in your bedroom can yield surprisingly dramatic results on sleep quality!. If you wake up a lot at night, look into what is causing it (noises that can be silenced, etc!.) because those interruptions in good sleep will kill the effectiveness of a deep sleep cycle!.
Everything else comes down to consistency!. Train your body to function when and where you want it to!. Health is always the main concern, but you can adapt to schedules surprisingly well with the right diet and some activity that gets you used to a particular daily cycle!. A good breakfast is almost always underestimated!. I sleep 2-3 hours less than my girlfriend but always have more energy throughout the day than she does!. We work out together, have similar work environments and eat almost the same thing every day, with the exception of breakfast!. A glass of orange juice, a piece of fruit and some cereal can give your metabolism the right boost early in the day to keep you awake all through your school day!. Coffee, in moderation, helps also; I'm sorry its not an option!.
Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

u r a f uc king idiot first of all!. School ends no later than 4 int he entire US!. Even if you play sports, shower, and eat dinner, go online, and whatevere else!. You should ahve over an hour for homework!. You will get extremely sick and end up in a hospital if u live off that little of sleep everynight!. I take 4 honors coures, play 2 sports, and play basketball on weeknights!. I easily get to bed by 11!. no need to be up to 12 or 2 every night!. The reason u cant stay awake is because your body is run down!. So dont try to keep it awake, its unhealthy u idiot!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

your going about doing it the wrong way, you NEED sleep, just try to manage your time better during the day rather than cutting back on sleep!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i would say that sleeping that little really isnt gonna help you at all - how about going to bed at 11 and waking up at 7!? that way at least you'll get 8 hrs of sleep!. as for staying up, there are many things that you can drink (such as coke, expresso, etc!. etc!.) but those arent always the healthiest ways to live!. i would really recommend just studying and doing homework when you are awake and when you start to get tired you may as well sleep because you're not gonna be doing your best work anyway

oh and good luck catching up on your studies :DWww@Answer-Health@Com

Let me start by saying, that for your age - it's better for you to get more than 7 hours of sleep!. If you must sleep from 12 to 7, maybe a nap during daytime!?

But if you have no other choice!.!.!.!.!.

To do what you want to do, you need to sleep in the most efficient way!. That means you need to get maximum rest in minimum sleep time!. If you are falling asleep, means your body needs rest!. Fighting that is harming your health!. You can get away with coffee and caffeine pills for only so long!.!.!.!. Otherwise you need to learn how to sleep efficiently to get the most rest out of the least sleep!.

There's one widely accepted theory that falling asleep and waking up during certain points in your natural sleep cycles will get you rested a lot better!. Don't get it confused though!. Sleep cycles are scientifically proven fact!. They occur in every person with variable durations!. When we sleep we go through several cycles some of which involve deep sleep, others when we see dreams, and when we are nearly awake!. The theory I talk about is that if you go to bed and wake up at certain point during your cycle - you'll get much better rest!. That is still a theory with little scientific background, but many people report that such sleeping techniques work for them!.

How do you know when it's a good time!? Well, grab a piece of paper and a pen - note the times of a day when you are really falling asleep hard - almost impossible to stay awake!. If you keep notes for several days, you will notice that those times occur at approximately the same time every day!. Those points are good times to go to bed!. So if your natural cycle start at 11:45pm then at 2:15 am, it's useless to go to bed at 12:30!. You can use the extra hour and 45 minutes to do some work and then go to sleep when nature calls!.

Same way, keep a chart near your bed and note times when you wake up for bathroom or just turn from side to side!. Those are your good times to get up!. Again, if your natural wake up times are 6:30am and 9:15am, but you need to get up at 7:00 -- set your alarm at 6:30!. You'll get up and be feeling more rested than if it wakes you up in a middle of your deep sleep phase at 7:00, plus you'll have extra half an hour to do something useful!.!.!.!.

Now all that said - if you have extra $250-$300, get the AXBO alarm clock:

It looks like a regular alarm clock, but it comes with wireless remote bracelet you put on your wrist before going to sleep!. You tell it the latest when you need to wake up, and it will calculate your sleep cycles for you (by analyzing your body temperature/pulse/etc) and will wake you up at the latest good point in your cycle so you don't miss your deadline!. Much like the method above, but the electronics will do it for you!. My friend has one of this and she can't praise it high enough!. She says getting up in the morning was never more easy!.

There are also cheaper wristwatch style versions like this:
http://www!.amazon!.com/SleepTracker-Watch!.!.!.
Though people reported problems with them, such as weak alarm sound that can be missed if you have a habit of sleeping with hand under a pillow, for example!. Or even under a thick blanket!.

Good luck,
LEM!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
