Can you suffocate while sleeping?!

Question: Can you suffocate while sleeping!?
this is going to sound crazy, but sometimes when i'm asleep, i can like!.!.feel myself choking/gasping for air, it's like i'm dreaming, but i'm really not, I THINK it's the position my head is in when i go to sleep, when i fall asleep my head is perfectly in the right spot, but after a few hours or so, i guess i'll move around and i'll stretch my neck all the way out [sounds weird i know!] but i can feel it, it feels like i'm hanging my head off the edge of something, and you know if you lay on your back and hang your head down, you kinda have to gasp or breathe really hard to get some air, well i do that when i sleep!.!.it feels like i'm choking!.!.and i can barely breath, it's like i'm going to die in my sleep or something, but then i'll like!.!.realize what's happening and i'll wake up gasping for air, i don't know why i do this, my mom said she's done it a few times, but everyone else i've asked hasn't understood what i meant, and NOBODY is choking me while i sleep, so don't say that, this is a serious question!. it feels like i'm drowning sometimes, just!.!.not in water, i hope that makes sense to someone, i want to know what causes this!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hmm, It might be sleep apnia sp!? It's when you fall asleep and stop breathing!. I don't know if it is an age related thing or not and not sure how old you are!. I would recommend going to a sleep specialist near you!. They can test you for that sort of thing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It sounds like sleep apnea or perhaps night terrors!. I would definitely see a professional about it; if it is often!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's not really related to Mental Health but what is happening seems serious!. It can be a sleeping disorder or terrors you have at night!. See your GP who can refer you to a specialist!.

My step brother was 33 years old when he died from Obstructive Sleep Apnea he had it for years and had a machine to help him at night--but that day he fell asleep on the sofa!.!.!.!.

My little boy had his tonsils out last year because they were causing Obstructive Sleep Apnea!.!.!.

The best way to get help is to let your parents know what is happening and then ask your doctor to refer you for a Sleep Study!.!.!. These are done at a hospital--a bunch of wires taped to different points and then you go to sleep the wires will report the amount of oxygen in your blood--how often you stop breathing and a bunch of other details!.!.!.!.

It may be as simple as getting your tonsils out!.!.!.!.

But this can be very serious!.!.!.!. Many kids with this issue are also diagnosed with ADHD but it isn't ADHD it's sleep depravation!.!.!.!.

Talk to your parents and have them look into Obstrutive Sleep Apnea!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
