Cannabis - How does a cannabis induced psychosis feel like ?!

Question: Cannabis - How does a cannabis induced psychosis feel like !?
Hey,

First of all, I am 23 years old and I first smoked when i was 21!. Well, not exactly smoked but I had a Space cake that was very strong so I basically got a panic attack and I blacked out for a moment!. It felt like I was going to die and I wanted to call the ambulance!. Is this what you call a cannabis induced psychosis !? From that point on I did not smoke for a about 6 month and then I tried a joint but I smoked too fast!. I got a smilar panic like feeling and I blacked out inside of a cofeeshop again!. After my frineds made me drink some rich siggar drinks I rebounded and it was okay again!. Now after all that, I still smoke sometimes!. I must note I have OCD (pure-o) only ocd toughts but no compulsions!. When I smoke now I get slightly paranoid and I already fear to get a panic attack so I start feeling weird!. When I watch family guy for example, the characters appear different somehow, evil; and it scares me!. I start starring and I start thinking deep!. What is a cannabis psychosis!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

First off - paranoia is common for pot smokers!. Second off - have you had your blood pressure checked!? Are you a skinny person and/or do you have a high metabolism!?

For many individuals who smoke (or eat, or induce it in come way), cannabis causes an increased heartrate during the first 5-15 minutes after you take your first drag!. If you have a high metabolism, your body will process the sudden chemical rush differently than someone with a slower metabolism!. Also, if you already have high blood pressure, and your heart starts racing from the pot, you will likely feel dizzy or light-headed, and may black out (it's happened to me before, I know what you're feelin' with that aspect of it)!. It is also likely that your brain will interpret your sudden increased heart rate as a threatening circumstance, which can then lead you to feelings of panic, uneasiness, or paranoia!.

However, it doesn't sound like you are having actual induced psychosis!. There is not really any irrational thought (feelings scared, paranoid, sick, etc!. is all rational considering your racing heart, heavy breathing, and general uneasiness), and no hallucinations that you described!.

Most of the rest of your described symptoms are also not incredibly unique - many people have different perceptions and interpretations of everyday things when they are high!. Also, "deep thinking" is a pretty common side effect as well!.

And to further answer your question, cannabis induced psychosis may involve hallucinations (typically auditory), distortion of color or sound (see "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" for further info on that), and synesthesia (when your brain confuses your senses - you are listening to your favorite music, but you think you can visually "see" it; you smell a hamburger, but later you seem to remember actually holding one)!. Synesthesia usually only happens when you have that good green that was laced with something (specifically, a hallucinogen like acid)!.

Hope that helps some!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

What you experienced after smoking too much is not psychosis related, it's just that you werent used to the effects of cannabis and the high was too intense to handle or make sense of so this can cause high levels of anxiety!. Cannabis induced psychosis happens only in people who are predisposed to having mental illness!. People will try to tell you that cannabis can lead to psychosis which is not really true!. Since cannabis was decriminalised in the U!.K 6-7 years ago there has been around a 50% increase in cannabis usage but a 0% increase in schitzophrenia but the number of schitzophrenia patients who were also cannabis smokers has increased!. This just means that people with mental illness will turn to cannabis (or alcohol) for some short term relief but the symptoms continue and they eventually require medical help!. If you already have depression, OCD or any other mental issues, it's advised to steer clear of cannabis!. Cannabis psychosis is having paranoid and delusional thoughts, audio or visual hallucinations and just a general detatchment from realityWww@Answer-Health@Com
