Question: Do you think the cause of depression is exhaustion!?
Every time I here of someone being depressed!. They are usually over worked!. Or has someone constantly yelling at them for no reason and making them feel sad!. So I think the cure for depression is learning how to say no to others when you are tired!. My question is do you think a month long vacation where no one tells anyone else what to do would help decrease depression!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Actually, exhaustion can most definitely cause depression, in some form or another!. Then it is perpetuated by a vicious cycle, leading to chronic fatigue syndrome!.

In a nutshell: Suppose you are exhausted, by work, life, whatever!.!.!. then you get bummed out because you're too tired to do anything, so you lie in bed more than normal!. Then you force yourself to do something active, then that makes you tired more quickly because you have been lying in bed all day!. So, since you are tired, you rest some more!. Then you get depressed because you can't seem to find the motivation to do anything and then fall into a full-blown depression episode!.

The converse is also true; when you are depressed, you usually lack the energy and motivation to do anything!. Life's simple pleasures don't seem so pleasing anymore!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No!. I wish it were that simple!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yeah i think a vacation usually helps some depression cases!. Some depression is chemical (lack of an important chemical in the brain that makes you feel happy) and some is environmental (if you hate your life you wont be happy) so getting away from your environment would help those cases!. But who can afford a month long vacation when i can barely keep a roof over my head now!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Exhaustion is more like a symptom of depression!. There are many internal and external factors that cause depression!. Someone is is overworked may be stressed about not having free time!.!.and witht the prolonged stress they end up developing depression which can lead to be tired all the time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, it could, if you feel you're being controlled by someone, and that is a contributing factor of your depression!. When you are tired, your level of serotonin, the mood regulating chemical, in the brian, is reduced, thereby making you more susceptible to feelings of anxiety and depression!.

Your stress levels will go down, when you're on holiday, but could return to their original levels, when you return to your usual work, and environment!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No,I think stress can make people feel tired and depressed at times!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It depends on the nature of the depression!. For someone who is overworked, exhausted and overly stressed, a vacation may be very helpful!. But then again, some people attempt to reduce their feelings of depression and anxiety by keeping themselves very busy (e!.g!., workaholics)!. Learning to be appropriately assetive and being able to say no to others is a good idea whether tired or not!. In general, depression does not have to be associated with anything external!. Sometimes people with "cycle" through feelings of helplessness and hopelessness despite the fact that it might not be based in reality!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No!. It isn't that simple!. When I was diagnosed with clinical depression, I didn't have a job!.

Stress from a job or something else can make depression worse, but it's not the whole picture!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am going through depression right now & it has nothing to do with being tired!. We have to work to make money & have tried to find work we love!. We are pretty close to that but we are on a job where the people have paid alot of money & they are anxious & we want them happy but we don't want to tell them they can pay us when they want so we are asking for money & there is conflict which is frustrating & they are nit-picky cause alot of retired people are involved who are interested in what we are going!. My family does not know how to communicate well!. So we get angry at each other!. I am depressed but looking for help to find out how to resolve our problems!. Also, I get depressed when my blood sugar is low & I have pills I take for this but when it is about 1/2 before that time I feel depressed so there are many reasons for depression!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No!. Depression has no known cause, and although what you listed is a common pattern, it only accounts for some cases of depression out there!. For instance, I suffer from chronic depression and I am in neither of those situations!. However, like other people have stated, feeling tired and exhausted is a side effect of depression!.
I appreciate your trying to be helpful, but for it's very hard for people who are really depressed to be told how to behave!. I do say no, a lot!. And the result is isolation!. Because I am tired all the time!. Be careful not to generalize people!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't agree at all!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
