Talk to this person whenever you have the urge to cut!. Some persons experience that a school counselor is a good choice to help with your cutting!.

Keep a hotline number with you at all times!. When you feel the urge to cut, pick up the phone and call the hotline!. Crisis hotline staff are trained to provide support and offer you alternatives to cutting yourself!.

Remember that to a professional crisis clinician is clear that it is NOT his or her job to "talk you out of" cutting yourself - you make your own choices, and you must take responsibility for cutting or not cutting!.

Remove cutting tools from your immediate area!. If you have to take the time to look for something with which to cut yourself, you may find you have just given yourself enough time to deal with the impulse!. Also keep sharp objects away from you!.

Try to create another outlet!. Walk away, eat ice cream, take a shower or bubble bath, go out for a jog, go for a swim, call a friend for coffee at the local coffeehouse but do not cut!.

As soon as you feel the urge to cut yourself, take a deep breath, fold your arms, close your eyes and relax!. Tell yourself that you are not going to cut!. If possible, lie down somewhere!. Stay like this until the urge goes, then quickly phone a helpline or use another means of getting help!.
Find other ways to vent!. Cutting is a way to release some type of pain or frustration!. Try painting, writing about your feelings, singing, dancing, playing an instrument, or playing a sport!.

Screaming at the top of your lungs helps!. Try virtually anything you can (as long as it's legal and healthy) to stop the urge to cut!.

Release the pain without cutting by using your voice!. Talk to someone--a doctor, teacher, friends, your parents if you can!. You will be surprised how relieved you will feel after you talk about it!.

Speak out loud about what is causing you so much pain!. Talk about it - even to yourself, in the privacy of your bedroom: even yelling to yourself to release the tension inside of you - but do not cut or hurt yourself at all!.

Tips

To stop yourself from cutting consider seeking help from a doctor, parent, or counselor to address the deeper problems that make you want to cut in the first place!.
Do not be ashamed to ask for support when you need it, as this affliction affects people from all walks of life!.
Remember you are not your enemy!. You love yourself; therefore, inflicting pain on you is wrong!.
If you continually cut yourself you'll regret each and every cut!. Well, don't do it!. Its not worth it!.
Snapping a rubber band on your wrist is not a good suggestion as it re-enforces that you can fix your problems by hurting yourself!. It is merely a "cop-out" and you shouldn't do this or any other method of hurting yourself to stop cutting!.
Don't let people judge you either; it makes things worse!. Believe in yourself!.
If you ever need help always find someone you trust having them right next to you is always helpful even if it is just for a hug!.

Do you have a therapist or psychiatrist you can go see!? Self Injury is a coping method that is very effective though harmful!. Talk therapy can really work wonders with this - learning new coping methods that aren't so destructive!. There are many books on the subject, One book I enjoyed (and its a good one to share with friends or family in an effort to help them understand) is "Cutting" by Steven Levenkron!. The author is a bit pompous, but don't let that detract you from the lessons within the book!.

Psychotropic medication may be a useful tool, especially if you are hearing voices!. Not all medication will make you feel like a zombie, and this is something best discussed with a psychiatrist!.

It is possible to stop, but it is hard work!. I think the most useful tools are learning healthier coping methods!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

try throwing out your razors and other things you use to cut
and when ever you feel the urge
get red dye and pour it into a cup mix it with water
what ever gets you the same pleasure
and smear it on paper or something
what ever is best for you
good luck overcoming it!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Wow, I felt my eyes filling up just reading that!. I don't know how you cope, but this cutting must be something you do to forget something or someone else!. Has anything happened to you that made you start cutting yourself!?

My advice would be to either go to your doctor, or depending on were you live there might be a community center which specializes in that type of thing!. Go to one of those!. If you are recommended to go to a hospital again, tell them that you don't think the treatment they gave you before was helpful and they might review it over what they had given you!.

I have no idea on how to stop the cutting, maybe try and think of something to take your mind of wanting to!? You must be cutting yourself because of something and in order to get over that you have to talk about it to someone, again, ask your doctor to refer you to somewhere were you could talk openly to someone or else confide in a friend!.

I really hope that helped!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i dont know anybody that cut themselfs so i dont know why people do this but if i was the one with this problem i guess id try to keep busy doing stuff so i wouldnt be thinking about cutting!.good luck to you!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go to a psychologist, counselor, psychiatrist, anyone that you trust who can send you to a psychiatrist!. If you don't know one, ask someone you trust -- someone in your family, or a freind!. Even if you can't talk to that person about cutting, just say you have some issues and need to speak to a counselor of some sort!. The counselor can then send you to a psychiatrist, who can give you a prescription to help you!.

If you hear voices, it sounds like the schizophrenia diagnosis was on target!. The right drug, in the right dosage, can work miracles for this sort of thing!. Your earlier experience with drugs was bad was because it happened in a hospital, where a zombie is what they need you to be!. If you work with professionals that you trust, you can get the right drugs and you will feel loads better and not feel compelled to harm yourself!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sounds like your schizophrenic to me!.!.!. Cutting isn't the way to solve your problems it's just a good way to be locked up in a mental institution, and those are the hardest things to get out of!.!.!.!. As for hospitals discharge you after a few days!. Mental institutions will keep you for as long as they want until they see some real improvement with your situation and behavior!. It's not fun I was locked up in one for cutting when I was 15 and didn't get out for a year!. Get serious help, and stop cutting!. I am now engaged and the only thing keeping me from cutting is him!. Find motivation in life keep yourself busy at the times you do feel like cutting!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try holding an ice cube in your hand it hurts but it won't hurt you!. Good Luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i herd that the reason people cut themselves is because it releases endorphians which make you feel good u could try getting someone to massage you idk thats a guessWww@Answer-Health@Com

My dear, I have to disagree with you!. The hospital did help!. You could not cut while you were there and didn't do it for a month after you got out!. There is a difference between the permanent solution for your cutting problem and getting help to stop doing it now!. If you really want to stop cutting now go in an environment were you can't do it!. The need to cut is sometimes more or less intense!. The key is getting help to have it stopped when it's out of control!. The hospital is there for times you can't stop yourself any other way!. That sounds like your current situation!. As far as the medication the hospital gave you!. You have a legal right to refuse any medication in the hospital!. When you are there decline the medication and tell them you are only there until you can get the cutting out of the forefront your mind and find other options!. Tell them you want them to teach you other alternatives either in group therapy or with the doctor assigned to you!. I'm a cutter for years and I know this works!. No matter what distractions or activities you try if you can't stop from cutting right now you have to have someone else stop you!. Sorry if this seems harsh but it's the truth for this moment in your trauma!. Smiles and warmthWww@Answer-Health@Com
