If you are on mood stabilizers now and weren't when you took Prozac before, it might be different!. Ppl with bipolar generally have problems taking antidepressants without mood stabilizers!. If you are not on stabilizers, well, it will probably not take long for your parents to figure out that Prozac alone was not a good idea!. It really sucks if that's the way it is!. I have bipolar and it sure was not a good med for me!.

I'm sorry the doc didn't listen to you!. That's not right!. Depending how this goes, maybe s/he will more next time!. Try to work with the doc!. That's important!. Be respectful, but say what is on your mind!. Patients who are argumentative are hard for them to deal with!. Those who don't talk much require mind reading skills they don't have!. After all, they are just ppl!. Keep that in mind!.

A good site for information on psych meds is http://www!.crazymeds!.us There's a talk board and a lot of ppl with bipolar there!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If trazadone is the only med you're on now, don't count on it doing much of anything!. It MAY help with sleep!. It's a very old school, very mild anti-depressant (there are MUCH better ones available now)!. It works quite differently than prozac (prozac is an SSRI; trazadone is an old tri-cyclic)!.

Sadly, it sounds like your dad picked the wrong psychiatrist!. You need to be on a mood stabilizer (e!.g!., depakote, abilify)!.

Hang in there,

I have bi polar disorder as well and let me tell you, you probably need a MOOD STABILIZER!. Anti Depressants can cause more Mania symptoms (such as yelling at your mom and hitting your sister) if used without a mood stabilizer!.

If you have a lot of anxiety (which would explain the suicidal ideation) you should ask for an anti anxiety medication!.

I've found that the medicines that work the best for me are Abilify, Lexapro, and Lamictal!. They've helped me A LOT!.

Ask your doctor about your medicine, though, I am by no means an expert or a doctor!. I just know what helps me!.

If you want better sleep, try getting a completely natural dietary supplement called "meletonin" take it a half hour before bed and it should help you sleep through the night without leaving you tired in the morning!.

But be sure to ask your doc about it first! Drug interactions can be deadly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You could write a letter to your psychiatrist!. I write letters to my therapists all the time!. I am assuming that you don't get to see the psychiatrist by yourself!. Just have it in your pocket and have it ready to pull out!. As far as the trazedone I am on that too as well as a bunch of other stuff and I am greatful for the sleep!. Remember the docs are not just limited to the prozac and sometimes they have to go through trials to see what works for your body chemistry!. Right now you are going through puberty too so it makes it more difficult!. Your hormones are raging!. Yeah the suicidal stuff is a good argument and you must tell someone if that starts up again!. It is't uncommon for teenage boys to get pissed off at their sisters and hit them for stupid reasons!. Try your best to control it!. You might try to write things down in a feelings journal!. How I felt when !.!.!.Make sure you put dates on the pages!. I forgot with mine and it was a blooming mess to try to get it in some semblence of order!. Sometimes it helps to get the feelings out even if it is on paper or on the computer to vent a little bit!. I hope things go well for you!.
