6 mg of clonzapam...is this doc crazy or is it just me?????!

ok im 21 i was on clonzapam for 3 years 16-18!.!.then lost insurance stopd cold turkey !.!.didnt even know you cold have withdrawls from them just thought i was going crazy!.!.i took 1mg to 1 1/2 mg a day !.!. so its been 3 years since ive got them !.this new doctor gave me a scrip to take 6 mg A DAY!!!! i also told him ive abused oxycodone the past year and half i told him i stoped but i still take it every once in a while !.!.!.im just a nervous wreck latley to the point were im shaking and thinking im going to have a nervous break down i also have hyper tention 2 already!.!.!.the doctor told me benzos are alot easy to quit then oxycodone !.!.!.i think this doctor is just stupid and dont kno what he is talking about !.!.people die from benzo withdrawal !.!. im not going to take more then 2 mgs a day but is it just me or is 6mg of clonzapam CRAZY for someone to start out on !?!?!?!?

I'm the perfect person to answer this, because i've had addiction issues with both benzos and opiates in the past!.
First, opiates are WAY WAY WAY harder to stop!. The difference is night and day!.
I was into xanax about 6 mg a day for several years (prescribed) and when I stopped cold turkey I felt lousy for about a week!. With opiates, I was deathly ill for about a month!.
Also, I have taken Klonopin at a starting dose of 4 mg and then worked up, but never started at 6!. Doesn't sound nuts though if you were on them before!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That is a lot of medication!. I used to take that and only took !.5 mg!. How will you function!? I used to be like you and the only thing that helped me was going to a really good therapist and learning how to deal with stress and anxiety!. Believe me it really helps, you need to retrain your thought process!. There is a book I bought called From Panic to Power by Lucinda Bassett and it is so helpful!. Try to go this route, you will feel empowered when you don't have to live your life relying on medication to help you cope with life!.
Just to add I used to take tons of medication to cope with things, I began seeing my therapist eating well and exercising and in the last 6 years I have been married, had a daughter and have another on the way, I actually have a great life now!. That is WAY too much to take in one day!.!.!.!.!.Either you come off as a total nut job or the doctor is a whack!!!! 6mg a day and you're not gonna be able to function!. If you had a serious addiction to opioids and benzos, you should look into suboxone treatment!. oxy's will kill you!. They slow down your respiration and your heart so it doesn't pump the blood you need to vital organs!. benzo's aren't much better!. Look into the suboxone treatment!. It's outpatient, and you can still work and function daily without the cravings!. It also calms you down and gives you a little energy!. Check it out!. I had to put my husband on it!. However, it does seem like you are getting really worked up about this!. I think you should make an appointment with another doctor, perhaps one who knows you or you have seen before - so they can either reassure you or offer their own opinion of how much clonzapam to take!.
In the days between now and your appointment, I would take the 6mg that the doctor said!. You seem to be such a nervous wreck, perhaps the doctor thought that you needed 6mg to calm your anxiety completely!?

Benzos are technically just as addictive as opiates!. They still mess up the brain function & require more & more as you go along!.
Perhaps you need to see a psychiatrist, not your family doctor!. Sometimes other antidepressants are also used for anxiety!. You should seek counseling as well!. Good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

Plenty of people take 2mg three times a day!. That is the max dose recommend!. I take klonopin and it doesn't even get me high and they gave me that after I told them I abused ativan for 5 years!. I have had doctors give me 14 mg of ativan a day, 20mg of xanax a day, 6mg of klonopin a day!. It isn't a big deal!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

normally a doctor will put you on a ssri antidepressant for anxiety as they are not addictive and give you a benzo for short term til ssri kicks in!.!.!.!.!.
there are two types of anxiety in that a single dose can halt a panic disorder!.!.!.but if you have GENERALIZED anxiety then taking only one dose in a day will give you up and down feel!.!.!.!.so the goal would be to give the benzo spread out over day for longer term anxiety!. But ssri's help not only generalized anxiety but also panic!.
Whatever you decide when you withdraw do it slowly even to the point at the end you are cutting the tabs into fourths and eighths!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
