Schizophrenia is not a simple single disease but a spectrum of disorders!. The general public has an abysmally misinformed and distorted view of these disorders!. Self diagnosis or diagnosis by a non-professional is dangerous and usually wrong!. When people say some one is "schiz" they usually don't like something about that person's personality and are just calling him/her a dirty name!.

For more information on these disorders type "schizophrenia" and "DSM-IV TR" into Yahoo! web search!. The first gives a number of links some of which summarize the symptoms and treatment!. Wikipedia has a good summary!. The second is the Bible of mental disorders used by psychiatrists in diagnosis!. It is more technical but really shows how difficult it is to diagnose these disorders!.

You do not want a diagnosis of schizophrenia if you can help it!.!. The stigma associated with it really complicates ones life!. Contrary to the opinion that a schizophrenic does not know they are ill, I knew quite definitely something very drastic was wrong when I first started hallucinating!. They were very violent "voices"!. If you want help see your GP physician for a recommend!.

Good luck in your research, good mental health, peace and Love!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Probably the first thing would be to tell your doctor what you've just told us!. They are trained health professionals - and he can recommend you see a mental health professional (such as a psychiatrist) if he suspects anything!.

Best of luck to you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Can u talk to someone abt the type of sounds & shadows u see!.!.!.!.!.!.u need to b sure as most ppl hear stuff etc but that doesn't make them schizopherenic!. think n write what u see n hear then take it to the doc n go from there!.
You'll b f9 as there r gd meds n lots of help available these days!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

see a doctor and he can refer you to a psychiatrist!. the psychiatrist will ask you questuons and he will tell you what he thinks!. often you simply take medications for it!. a very large portion of people who are schizophrenic cannot lead normal lives without medication!. often it progresses and many people with this disease often kill themselves!. i would hope you would seek medical attention, as this does not have to rule in your life!. i have this disorder!. i believe that it progresses without medical attention!. start with a doctor!. if medications become involved in your life, be patient and stay very involved with your doctor until you feel right!. dont give up!. it is a frustrating experience!. well worth the patience!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should talk to your parents about seeing a psychiatrist!. Explain what you explained to us and see what they say!. There are plenty of medications out there to help you out and balance your brain chemistry!. My boyfriend is schizophrenic and takes 800mg of Seroquel every day, and his symptoms (which include delusions, hallucinations, paranoia, and thought disorder) are under control!. Also, don't be afraid to look into therapy as well, I think a combination of therapy and medication is your best bet if schizophrenia is your case!. Good luck with everything!Www@Answer-Health@Com
