Question: I feel so anxious and 'out of it'!. And just not normal!. I have such anxious feelings!. Help!?
I've been seeing a therapist for a few weeks!. It seemed like it was helping but sometimes it seems like my 'anxiety' just takes different forms with different 'symptoms' instead of going away!. I have thoughts like 'how do people LIVE' , how do people find so called 'happiness'!? It's such a hard life!. Like it's all a sick joke!. But there are times I feel better!. But what if this isn't anxiety!? What if there is just something wrong with me and I'll never know what!? Please help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Anxiety is characterized by these questions of "What If!." Although you may not think you're asking the typical questions that cause most people attacks like "What if I stop breathing, what If I become trapped, what if I throw up!.!.!." it sounds like you're thinking similiarly and fearing the future because you're living in a world you don't understand!. The truth is none of us will ever understand it completely to the point where we can feel at peace, there will always be something new you can ask yourself that will freak you out!.!.!. Like thinking why the universe is so big with 300,000 miles between each star in the sky and enough in that outnumber the grains of sand on this earth!.!.!. We naturally want to know and understand everything on this earth and life because its our home but the fact is we can't!. If you keep on thinking in terms of the future thoughts, you'll find more and more reasons to be anxious!.

You are normal though!. Anxiety is not a psychiatric illness because you will always have control over your thoughts! Wierd things will pop into your head from time to time, but you can CHOOSE to let them flow right by you, and go back to thinking about WHAT IS- only things that are essential to your life in that very moment!. if you enjoy pondering philosophically that's wonderful, but if you turn that into worry and anxiety, your worry will be neverending because we were designed to think in the present moment!. There we find all the security we need and just know nothing we can do can change the makeup of the world or our fututre!. You've made it this far living in the present moment, and I can promise only good things will happen if you continue to trust living in the world of what is instead of what is unseen!. That's already been taken care of!. People just live, and you're happiness mixed with disappointment is guaranteed, nothing you can do to change that, but living in the moment will make you happy a little more often!. If you've been seeing a therapist for a few weeks, keep telling yourself that it's going to take more time!. Nothing is going to get better just because you're seeing the therapist!. Have they started you on any medications!? I used to work in Mental Health, and many of the clients that were admitted had recently been started on medication!. Don't let that scare you -- the medication is necessary, but often it causes increased depression or anxiety INITIALLY before it really starts to make you feel better!.

If you haven't yet started taking any antianxiety meds, maybe your therapist can refer you to a psychiatrist who can start you on something!. The psychiatrist will also be able to examine your symptoms and maybe tell you if you have something other than anxiety, like major depression or bipolar!.
