Question: What to expect at intake appointment!?
I have been feeling depressed for about a month now and I think it is due to school!. I posted a question previously and have decided to seek help!. What can I expect at the initial appointment and an subsequent appointments!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well if its a counselor that you are seeing then I will share with you my experiences!. My first counselor that I went to was kind of a nut job but they all start out basically the same!. Generally how are you feeling why do you think you feel this way and they spur you into conversation!. My counselor that I have now, who's the best ever :), had me answer a ton of questions my first couple of appointments to get a feel for what my life is like!.
I was so nervous for my first appointments and its something everyone that goes faces, but counselors are so friendly and welcoming because they are trained to make people feel comfortable!. Good luck to you and I hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am so glad that you are comfortable with going for help!. I have heard from doctor and pharmasist friends that anti-depressants are prescribed more than antibiotics!. It is nothing to feel afraid or ashamed about at all!.
My husband and I both benefit from counsling and meds!. You sound like maybe your problem is more situational and counseling is the best choice for these times!.
The first appointment is more of a getting to know you type appointment!. You just visit about your likes and dislikes, and you decide together if your personalities fit well and if counseling is the best solution for you!. If you don't feel comfortable with the first person you find - don't feel bad going to someone else!.
