Well do they have a VOC REHAB or a V!.E!.S!.I!.D!. where you live!? These are government agencies that specialize on getting people who have disablities jobs!. You would be surprised what people who are considerd disabled for whatever reason are doing for a living!. In NYC it is VESID which stands for Vocational and Educational Services for Indiviuals with Disabilites of which I am a member!. The are GREAT but YOU must really WANT to WORK they will even FUND your going to SCHOOL and training or help you set up a business!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I didn't think so until I herniated a disk last April and wasn't able to work for 5 months!. Honestly, I don't think it's so much my job that I missed, as much as it was my independence!. BTW, I was 21 at the time and working a crappy factory job!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My job is what I DO, not who I AM!.

Your disability is something that happened to you - don't let it define who you ARE!.

I've seen disabled people that wallow in their misery!. I call them cripples, because they've decided to let the disability win because they define what they can't do, not what they can do!.

I've seen other disabled people who decide that the disability isn't going to run their life and they surmount it!.

Think Helen Keller!. Deaf, blind, mute and she still did more with her life than most of us do!.

Think FDR - confined to a wheelchair by polio, he ran the country!.

A disability is just one more hurtle - find the way around it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Once upon a time, yes very much!. Then I did the undiagnosed bipolar 'completely destroy everything of worth in your life' maneuver!. Now I take pride in the work I do and enjoy my enjoyable collegues, but mostly it's about a pay check!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Bipolar Birdie, My love over 22 years ago I had a motercycle wreck that left me permanetly disabled!. I can not know how you feel but being alone and a shut-in for coming up on 23 years maybe that gives me the right to offer you an ear to listen cause I know how I feel and it is not good ! As far as the job thing goes, I was a welder but was only hours away from starting my singing career!.Singing was my calling!.So now that I can not it weighs heavy on my heart!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My work is a big part of my identity!. However, I look forward to retiring!. Even the disabled can contribute and volunteer!. The trick is to reach out to the world for what you can GIVE!. It's immensely rewarding and will give you something to look forward to!. If you can speak and read, you can read to children or help adults learn how to read!. If you like animals and can get around in a wheelchair, you might take a certified care dog to nursing homes for visits!. Sorry, I don't know what your condition is, but I've seen paraplegics play board games, read, engage in conversation, go shopping and to the library!. Things have changed so much with all the tools available to the disabled!.

Good luck and let us know how it goes for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
