What to do about depression?!

Question: What to do about depression!?
I've been suffering with chronic depression for the last 2 1/2 years of my life, and it has essentially crippled me!. The symptoms are extended periods of lethargy and feelings of worthlessness, along with extreme mood swings on a near daily basis!. Anyways, over this period of time, I have both gained and lost a great deal of friends, including a girl who I still love very much!. Now, my mother also went through depression, same style as me!. However, when I'm suffering depression, both of my parents get angry at me for being depressed, and tend to overload me with stuff that I cannot do!. I am in therapy for all this, and it does help, but I'm wondering what to do with the situation at home!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Here's the thing about depression: it is very difficult to understand if you've never experienced it!. I suffered from mild depression during my early years of high school, but it really resurfaced my freshman year in college!. Like you, I was completely debilitated by my depression!. I was unable to get out of bed and go to class, to make new friends, and to get myself interested in activities that I previously found joy in!. I was too unsure to truly voice my feelings about my depression to my parents, and despite many hints and cryptic cries for help, it took me failing out of college for my parents to take notice and accept that I had a genuine problem!. My best advice to you is also my biggest regret: I wish I had told my parents sooner!. I wish I had truly sat down and voiced my problems like an adult, instead of hiding away like a scared child!. At the end of the day, they're your parents and if you tell them that you are struggling and need their support and love I'm sure they will hear what you're saying!. It's been a year since I failed out of school, and with medication, support, and a genuine desire on my part to be healthy again- I'm about to go back to the school I failed out of a year ago!. I hope you find your way and something that works for you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

something that helped me is to separate myself from parents and just do what i am told!. my family also has depression problemsWww@Answer-Health@Com

Depression is very difficult and can lead to many secondary problems!. Remember, you need to help yourself come out of this frame of mind and mood swings, no one can do it for you!. Ofcourse your parents get annoyed, they love you and want to see the best for you!. Try discussing the situation with them and ask them to be more understanding of your current needs!.
But honestly, try and start thinking a bit more positive, make some nice and exciting plans- even if you can't be bothered!. You need to move forward with your life!.
If your current therepy isn't working try Cognitive Behavioural Therapy!. It helps to change your negitive thought processes!.

Good Luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's great that you have started therapy!. That is the first step in fighting your disorder!. I know exactly what you are going through!. I have lost many people in the past 3 years due to depression!. No one has the right to be angry with you because you're sick!. Your parents should be supporting you!. If you can, move out of your house!. Another relative could be helpful in your recovery process!. Unfortunately, you cannot change the behavior of others around you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
