Lamictal has been around for over 20 years so it's not all that new! It's an anticonvulsant used for epilepsy and bipolar disorder!. For bipolar, it has the strongest antidepressant effect of the stabilizers!. Those that run more manic or highly hypomanic often need to take it with something else to manage those symptoms since Lamictal can be activating!. Providing that you don't get the very rare SJS rash during start up, it's usually side effect free for most ppl!. I take it!. I like it a lot!. I also take Lithium and Depakote to deal with other symptoms that Lamictal alone doesn't manage!.
