How do I tell my mum I need help??!

Question: How do I tell my mum I need help!?!?
I know that I have OCD and I have talked to my mum about it, but that was a while ago and she seems to have forgotten about it!. I also think I have depression or bipolar, as I have been self harming abit, and crying alot of the time, feeling worthless and a failure (I really can't go in to it all or it will take forever! But I know something isn't right as I've been feeling like this for about a year now)!. It upsets me so much I know somethings wrong but I don't know exactly what and my exams are coming up soon (GCSE) and the last thing I want to worry about is all of the above!. I've thought about this long and hard, and I know I need to see someone about it, the problem is, I don't know how to tell my mum!. She's got a lot on her plate at the minute, so I don't want to upset her even more!. Also, I'm worried she'll think I'm just attention seeking or overreacting!. Can anyone give any advice on the best way to tell her please!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

NO mother, I repeat NO mother is EVER to busy to help her child, EVER! Don't feel bad about talking to her!. My mom forgets important things to me all the time and truthfuly it makes me feel like **** but I just keep reminding her ntil she finaly does something about it!. I feel so much sympathy for you because my sister is bipolar and so is my cousin!. My parents think my sister should 'figure things out on her own' or 'hit rock bottom' before they help her and I'd love to help her but I'm too young (only in my early teens)!. My aunt and uncles aproach was to help him as much as they could and now he's off to get married and has a baby on the way!. I think you should say that you really need to talk to her and that its REALLY important!. You also have to remember that she is probably really scared too!. If she isn't much help or isn't responding, I'd suggest getting profesional help so your tests go well and talk to her after!. Don't worry if she thinks your over reacting or attention seeking, you know what you know, she doesn't!. It's better you get a profesionals opinion rather than go on living upset!. You are NOT a failure, nobody is prefect and we all have to accept help sometimes!. So Good Luck, I wish you the best with her!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just sit her down n tell her that you tink you hav itWww@Answer-Health@Com

You should hand a copy of this post to you mom so she knows the full extent of your condition!. If she "forgets" again you should approach a teacher or counselor at your school!. They may be able to talk to your mom with you or help you get help another way!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I really feel a lot of empathy for what you are going through right now!. I've struggled with depression my entire life, and I do think that it's very hard for someone that isn't affected by it to grasp!. For me, there is some self-harm involved and also just an overall feeling of worthlessness and apathy!. Maybe you've noticed your symtoms your entire life, but it's gotten worse as you've grown (depression and other mental health issues tend to get worse with age) You really REALLY need to talk to your mom ASAP!. Maybe you should just tell her everything that you mentioned here!. Make sure you're calm when you bring it up!. She'll be more likely to take you seriously!. I know your mom may have a lot going on, but you're her daughter and therefore her priority!. She may not understand completely, but she can take you to a doctor!. There really is light at the end of the tunnel!. Once I got on the right medication things improved pretty quickly!. Who knows, maybe it will bring the two of you closer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Please don't worry! Im best friends with my mum i tell her everything! If you really think somethings up, you need to talk to her !. say to her calmly you are really worried and you want to get it checked out!. I doubt she will think your just attention seeking!. I've been suffering with my mental health a lot recently with acute anxiety, i thought i was going to die so its not serious!. to put your mind at rest go to your doctor!. ive been crying a lot recently, its HORMONES!!!!!! Please don't self harm though, just talk to your mum!. My tests are soon but dont worry do your best! good luck x :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

dont say anything to your mom!. go to your dr and talk to them!. they can do tests for depression and you can decide if you need medication or counsling!. after you've done that and have your results, then talk to your mom!. it will be easier for her to handle if you have the facts at hand and show that you are taking steps to deal with it!.

i remember when i told my mom that i thought i had depression!. she was devistated because she has it too and felt like it was all her fault!. but, she understood how i felt and knew that i needed help since she had gone thru the same thing!. but, i dont think i could have told her if she wasnt depressed as well, because i dont think she would have understood (like how you think your mom might react)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you dont have to tell your mother at all!. just go to your school counselor or make an appointment with your doctor in private!. my mom doesnt know anything about my problems!. i have anxiety, depression and i am a cutter but i am seeing a psychologist for that and my mom has no idea!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

As the parent of three daughters, I would say that you should sit down and tell your mother exactly what you've told us!. Than with your mother either make an appointment with your doctor for a referral or as the school counselor for advice!. If you don't' have access to either one than call your local hospital to get a referral to the local mental health center!. Than go with your mother there to set up an intake session!. If your mother won't help you than go to your doctor or school counselor and ask them to help you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
