Question: Do the brain zaps go away once your body or brain is used to the antidepressant!?
The brain zaps came after going off of Depakote, then seemed to go away a little, and then they tapered my Lexapro, and I am getting tehm here and there, and now I am starting the Citalopram Hydromide(sp!?)-generic Celexa!. My side effects were just about going away except for the lethargy from the Lexapro!. These "zaps" are so strange"Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
these brain zaps you speak of should go away!. it takes some time for these medications to get in your system as it takes time for them to remove from your system, as well!. if this does not go away within 2 to 3 weeks, i would tell your doctor and see if another medication can be tried!. often switching from one to the other causes overlapping feelings of both medications!. this is my prefference to changing medication and dealing with being out of sorts for 2 to 3 weeks!. it can get better in days!. it depends on your body and your ability to tolerate certain feelings and effects!. it does take time for you to know if these are side effects or if it is overlapping the other medication right now!. celexa has few side effects as i have said, but each person is different!. i think if you understand that you will not be yourself while you are adjusting medication, that you will get through the transition fine and sooner than you think!. it seems like forever when one is trying to get their mind and feelings together!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I got these too!. No one believed me!. Dont worry its your body getting adjusted they might last 4-6 weeks though but will gradually taper to being less shocking!.

If you are having brain zaps, you should stay with the depakote, cuz that sounds like a seizure disorder!. I have taken antidepressants successfully for many years, and I do not know what a brain zap is!. I have MS, too, and I still never had a brain zap!.
In fact, I have had a seizure before from Wellbutrin and I did not experience a brain zap!. Go see a neurologist!. And best of luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

brain zaps, maybe your medicines or withdrawal from a medicine is causing you to have seizures!. certain medicines have been known to cause them when taking them and especially when stopping them without tapering off the dosages!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had some tingling and "crawly" feeling on arms and legs (mostly arms) with one of the SSRI's!.
This is common, but these types of side effects (plus most stomach/ GI tract upsets) usually go away after 2 or 3 weeks!

Keep your doctor up to date on what you are feeling!. It's perfectly reasonable to believe you are feeling the odd things you describe!.
Let doc know you are feeling tired/ lethargic (and think it's the Lexapro)!. He or she can adjust the dose if necessary!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
