Answers:
I am sorry this is so hard!. It is a difficult time!. You are not next!.

To answer your question!.!.!.
*Schizophrenia usually manifests in the teens to early twenties, rarely later than 30 but sometimes
* Bipolar usually manifests in late teens to twenties, sometimes thirties or forties (wrinkle in my life), as late as fifties or sixties
* Depression can kick in at any age, but the chronic type is usually there to some degree early and slowly grows worse
* Anxiety can kick in at any age
* Ppl can live thru terrible events and be fine for decades to have them come back and bring them to their knees
* Sometimes life just piles up on a person and they need a time out

My point is that there's no clock on mental illness!. The illnesses above have nothing to do with a person's character or for the most part the type of life lived!.

Your BIL probably is not irreparably damaged!. He still is the same person and will recover!. Please don't treat him like a freak or a weakling or lessor person!. Something didn't go right whether it's biological or psychological!. Now he's getting help!. That's all that matters!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Mental problems don't originate from anything around you in your later life, but rather from things called nature (environment as a young child/in the womb, things inherited by your parents) and nurture (how people treat you/act around you when you are young and still impressionable)!.
Doctors theorize that nature has a much more powerful effect than nurture, which changes a lot of previous theories they had about autism and other diseases of that nature!.
So, in essence, his life now has no effect on the life and things that effected him as a child and are therefor irrelevent!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

maybe not working being around all those crazy people caused a break down!. doing that kind of work he had to see and hear somethings!. there was a movie with robert forester and he played a shrink who wigged out and took on the persona of his patient because he was tired of hearing them whine not saying its that extreme but its somethign like that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
