How do I cope with an unsatisfying office job for the next year and a half?!

Question: How do I cope with an unsatisfying office job for the next year and a half!?
I work in an office!. I work alone 80% of the time!. I have a great view!. I have free time for about half of the day!. This job will look fantastic on a resume!. This job pays very well!. Other jobs would not be able to pay all of my bills, like this one does!. The people I work with (on the seemingly rare occasion when they're actually here) are very easygoing & I get along with them well!. It's not too bad

I'm not happy here!. My work is tedious, monotonous, isolating, and unsatisfying!. If I quit working here, I will not be able to afford to pay my rent, and I'll have to move back with my parents!. I'm SO much happier living on my own, with a friend!. I would almost prefer to be unhappy at work than unhappy at home!. I am planning to go back to school, but not until September 2009!.

So!. Does anyone have any boring job coping mechanisms for themselves!? I'm a very logical person and I understand that this is the way it "has to be" (for now anyways), but I'm just so unsatisfied with this!.!.!.officeWww@Answer-Health@Com

Gee, boring is the only complaint!?
To answer your question, first tell yourself how lucky you are!. Then ask the boss if there is any other project which you can help with!. This will help your boredom, maybe give you a challenge, and give you lotsa points and probably a glowing resume` (maybe even a raise)!.
Socialize a little on breaks and brainstorming sessions with other employees!.
Other stuff you can do: work on creative ideas for improving the company training program, offer to mentor new employees, or just get a big book of Sudoku and work on that when you are bored!

My current job is full of backbiting and backstabbing cliques, is a hostile work enviornment, and administration kept a brand-new employee who treated a wonderful, pleasant and good worker like dirt for NO good reason (said nazi-brain did this twice, and it was inexcusable behavior done to ANYone)!. The verbally and mentally abused employee quit after talking to her pastor and to a lawyer!. Both employees were new, started on the same date!.
Go figure!. I guess it's the type of place they want!. Have heard of other companies that function this way: it's like working in a snake pit!.

Again:
Tell yourself how lucky you are!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I feel the same exact way!. I have a job through my school right now and i have been doing it for the past 9 months!. I feel like im going insane because it is so boring!. I sit behind a desk for 5 hours out of the day and nobody that works there is my age!. The only think that i can suggest is to listen to the radio if you like music!. This tends to make the time go by faster for me!. I hope things get better for you and good luck in the future:)Www@Answer-Health@Com

hahaha! only 2 years!? and a view!? hahahaha! if i had a view where my office is, i'd look at all the birds outside, the crows and geese and all that, and i'd probably spend less time on yahoo answers and more time at work!.
i also got good money and people to work with, but my job has lowered my IQ by about 20 points in the past 2 years!.
maybe you should try to find things to do outside of work you can look forward to!. speaking of which!.!.!. i got somewhere to go today!.!.!. yey!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I worked a job through college that was very tedious (filing clerk), but it paid like $3 more per hour than the jobs my friends were working, so it was silly to leave!.

I played games while filing!.!.!.like trying to find the most efficient way to do it!.!.!.just really stupid stuff!. I also had free time during my job, but couldn't leave, so I would do everything like anally perfect to take up the time!. If I had to count things, I would count in French, Spanish and German!.

Also just remember that this job is allowing you to do what you want to do!.!.!.and that is the ultimate point of a job!. Go out and buy a new pair of shoes to reward yourself for not quitting!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm an aerospace engineer and I hate my job!. I sit in my cube all day and "type, click, roll the scroller wheel" several times in a minute!. I don't ever get to work away from my cube!. It drives me nuts!. I live in an expensive suburb of Denver and can't afford to find another job since I have a family to support!.!.!. plus this one pays a lot!. I will get laid off when some lousy democrat takes office!.!.!. just be happy with what you got because someone can easily take it away from you!.

PS!. My cubicle mate drives me crazy too!. He always scrapes his yogurt cup with a plastic spoon everyday!. It drive me insane!Www@Answer-Health@Com
