Depressed when at parents' house, no matter what's going on?!

Question: Depressed when at parents' house, no matter what's going on!?
I spend part of the time at my parents' and part of the time at my boyfriend's (I'm inbetween jobs and am having problems with school)!. Whenever I'm at my boyfriend's, I might get upset every once in a while, but he usually makes me feel better in no time at all!. But when I'm at my parents', its like I'm constantly depressed and miserable!. Now, they used to argue a lot, or say insensitive things to me!. I think that played a big part in me being so depressed and insecure!. Its not so bad anymore, but even when things are going good, I still feel depressed!. Is it possible just simply being around them brings the depression out!? Also, I can't really be my true self around them, and its different when I'm with my boyfriend!. Plus, I have been suffering from depression and anxiety for about a year and a half now!. I guess I'm just really looking for some things to make staying with my parents more bearable, and I'd like some suggestions!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's really hard to step back into the place/relationships from your childhood without also slipping back into your own childhood role (and feelings!) In order for that to change everyone has to spend lots of time apart or get lots of therapy!.

This happens to everyone, not just you!. You've got communication patterns established with your parents that are old and deep and not even conscious, so they're hard to change!.

One thing that can work on short visits is to play a role or act while you're with them!. Think about someone you know who would handle things with your parents really well!. What would that person say and do differently!? While you're at their house, be that person!. Act!. It will help you get out of your head a little and see things differently!. Might even help break the emotional cycle as well!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
