If your dog dies you feel sad!.
If you cat dies you feel sad!.
If you can't get out of bed in the morning, can't go out, tire easily, don't want to be around people, hurt all over, feel just awful about yourself, etc!., you are depressed!.
Clinical Depresssion is when the brain stops making all the feel good chemicals!. The serotonin, the dopamine!.!.!.!.the chemicals that give you a nice buzz just living your life!. Your brain stops making them and all you feel is pain, soreness, tiredness!. You wind up taking lots of naps and sleeping way more than normal!.

It's normal for everyone to go through times when they're just sad and depressed, and lots of people bounce back!. I think clinical depression is diagnosed based on the intensity of the sad feelings and the duration of these feelings!. For example, if they've been moderately or extremely sad for, say, a year and a half or more!. I'm not sure, I'm not a psychiatrist or anything, but I've been diagnosed with bipolar disorder (also known as manic-depressive), and thank God, I didn't need to take any meds for it!. I realized I had to change the way I saw the world and myself!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The different levels of depression are medical terms to identify the subtle differences in each type!. But spiritually-speaking, they are the same - caused by the spirit of depression or spirit of mourning & heaviness!. Please read Isaiah 61 on this!.

The meds you take is just to try to suppress your moods, and for some, to keep them in a state of passiveness so that they will not think too much and commit suicide!. Medical science cannot CURE you from depression - it tries to deal with the symptoms but it can't remove 'the root of the problem,' which is spiritual in nature!. Spiritual roots can only be dealt with the spiritual way, through deliverance and inner-healing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I believe the major difference is the amount of time one is in the state of depression and the symptoms are deeper in level than regular depression

Clinical depression can present with a variety of symptoms, but almost all patients display a marked change in mood, a deep feeling of sadness, and a noticeable loss of interest or pleasure in favorite activities!. Other symptoms include:

Persistent sad, anxious or "empty" mood
Loss of appetite and/or weight loss or conversely overeating and weight gain
Insomnia, early morning awakening, or oversleeping
Restlessness or irritability
Psychomotor agitation or psychomotor retardation
Feelings of worthlessness, inappropriate guilt, helplessness
Feelings of hopelessness, pessimism
Difficulty thinking, concentrating, remembering or making decisions
Thoughts of death or suicide or attempts at suicide
Loss of interest or pleasure in hobbies and activities that were once enjoyed
Withdrawal from social situations, family and friends
Decreased energy, fatigue, feeling "slowed down" or sluggish
Persistent physical symptoms that do not respond to treatment, such as headaches, digestive problems, and chronic pain

It is true also with clinical depression, like bipolar and the others illness you listed, chemical imbalances are at the root of itWww@Answer-Health@Com

I'm not a doctor, but it would seem to me that with normal sadness, one does actually have the capability to pull him/herself our of the depression, whereas with a clinical depression, the reason for it is a chemical imbalance, which can be fixed only with medication, to fix the imbalance!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A clinically depressed person is depressed for months at a time with no cause or warning!. a sad person may be depressed however this is caused by an event!. On a level of 1 to 10 1 being the happiest person ever and 10 being suicidal a depressed person will always be 9 to 10 whereas a sad person would be 7 to 9!. hope that helps!.!.!. if you want more details just ask im glad to helpWww@Answer-Health@Com

The chemicals in your brain actually change when you're clinically depressed!. Sadness is a normal emotion in reaction to loss, hurt, frustration, and probably a ton of other events!. When sadness takes over and becomes the predominant pattern, it can become depression!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

normal sadness is something that can be changed if you have something good happen to u or u fell good and clinical depression is a disorder that cannot be controled and can affect u mentally and physically!. even if you have everything u wanted and you had the happiest life u would still be sadWww@Answer-Health@Com

i agree with smartyskirt do realize that you can always turn to Jesus to help---listen to God's word, listen to Christian music to get that boost of uplift you just might need!. This is where you differ from those that do not know God they turn away from Him who helps when you pray to HimWww@Answer-Health@Com

clinical depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain, it takes mood stabilizers, antidepressants to control it!. you can be depressed and not have a chemical imbalance and over come it without meds!.!.!.!.im bipolar!.!.!.im on meds the rest of my life!. take care!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
