Do shrinks (psychiatrists) test medications on themselves? 5+ points ANSWER!?!

Question: Do shrinks (psychiatrists) test medications on themselves!? 5+ points ANSWER!!?
Okay, i got an interesting question, do shrinks test out medications on themselves!? And I'm not just saying this to be funny cause seriously they act/behave like they're on something!. I understand being in that profession can be stressful and they prescribe meds to people to make them happier/get through hard times but when they're feeling low do they take em!? And how come most of them are hypocrites cause like they give all this advice to "mentally ill" people but in reality they're the ones that need help, (the vast majority of them) I heard most of em depend on drugs and come to think the only way to happiness is to take drugs when half of the time you might just need a lil family support/ counseling!. So!? what do you guys think!?

5+ points for best answer! :-)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Lol, psychiatrists are MDs and soooooooo many MDs come with big EGOs! It's an MQ for med school isn't it!? And, therapists!.!.!. I suspect that many have or have had some sort of issues because something must make them not fear being in the field and feel that they truly have something to offer!.

Therapists can't write prescriptions, but they probably have their own therapists and psychiatrists who do prescribe them meds if they need them!. Some might be nutty, but if s/he brings it into my therapy session, I'm not paying to fix that so s/he's not a talk doc I'd stick with!. But, yep, I think some are on meds, probably need to be on them!. Test driving, nah!. Private addiction, maybe!.

Pdocs, I've had three!. One definitely needed some serious counseling!. Maybe some write themselves a little Ativan but really, they also deal with addiction and I'd hope are a little less inclined (hope stressed)!. Test driving, lol, why!? Gee, what's Lithium like!? All they'd get is the side effects!. THAT they can see in their clients!. I'd love to put my pdoc on Depakote for a month!!! Okay, so, there also are pdocs on meds!. I know a bipolar psychNP who also talks about bipolar doctors!. So, ppl with mental illnesses are everywhere!. I'd still guess you ran into the egos and personality disorders!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No!. They do studies on people and base their opinions on the outcome of the studies!. If the doctor is depressed, he may take meds for it!. I don't think they are abused!. You also have to consider that they see people everyday and, over time, they build up a wall that keeps them from feeling any sympathy, empathy, or compassion for anyone!. The do that without medication!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Psychiatrists have to prove that they have no mental problems whatsoever!. They also have to have a medical degree!. This means that they would never, ever test out anything on themselves!. Your question gives the idea that you have a lot of anger toward the profession, as what you say is totally not true!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm a psychotherapist, not a psychiatrist, but I took antidepressants a few years back for some post-traumatic stress!. It's helped me a lot to be able to talk to my clients about the decision to take medication and how I made my own decision to go that route!.

There are some studies that show that physicians with access to the "good" drugs, like Vicodin and cocaine (Yup, cocaine is a schedule 2 drug, so dentists in particular have access) do sometimes take advantage!.

And yeah, I agree we're all too reliant on prescribing drugs to fix things!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

of course they don't no more than they would give their kids the immunizations that are causing autism in children!.!.!.they are only concerned about money and would never take their own health in jeopardyWww@Answer-Health@Com

They have their own therapists as well, so who knows - maybe theyve been prescribed the same medications that they prescribe their own patients!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I very much doubt it why take any risk when they have us patients do it for themWww@Answer-Health@Com

Only the good ones, which they wouldn't share with you anyway!Www@Answer-Health@Com

if they have problems will be good if they do!Www@Answer-Health@Com
