How much noise is too much?!

Question: How much noise is too much!?
There's a lot of noise, where I live, a major school, with bells and children all day long, and two guys who tear around on motorbikes!. I have tried using techniques to deal with it, distraction, headphones, replacing it with my own music, but hours later, the noises are still there, then I feel despairing, I feel I can't cope, as though my threshold of coping has been exceeded!. Then I feel bad about myself, because I know I am not dealing with this!. Moving out, although, it has its pluses, seems a mountain, and I'm afraid I'll face similar problems!.

When I reach out to my mother for help, she retreats, teary!. I feel bad because I'm upsetting her!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Innate sensitiveness(High sensitivity)!.!.coined by Carl Jung, describes people who process sensory data much more deeply due to a biological difference in their nervous systems!. In the past this has been confused with innate shyness(a question you asked before) inhibitidness, fearfulness and introversion(also, you mentioned being introverted before)!. It may be connected to high levels of Cortisol(a hormone produced by our adrenal glands, called the stress hormone)!.
Causing hypervigilance and hypersensitivity!.
Sounds like you need to be somewhere with less noise!. Make sure that when you do move that you are in a relatively peaceful area!.!.no schools!. Unfortunately in this world, you will have to put up with some noise!.!.!.no matter where you go!. Hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I feel your pain!. I have been working nights for the last few months and have been having trouble with falling asleep at the wheel, because my neighborhood is so loud during the day!. It just sucks!.

You could try having your bedroom soundproofed!. It's fairly reasonable now, cheaper than moving out!. They basically add a layer of foam and another layer of sheetrock all around, insulate the floor, and add triple pane, noise-reducing windows!. There are also active noise canceling systems now, which transmit vibration the opposite of the original noise!. That's probably still pretty expensive though!.

Well, i would say that, you are afraid of change!.
if you try to cope and you feel you have exhausted all the options, then i feel its time to leave/move!.
we are all conscious about change but it has to take place!.
You have not stated if you have friends!.You would consider inviting one over and asking about the noise(If you are not sure whether its you being too sensitive),and get to hear what s/he has to say ,then consider her/his opinion(s) !.
And next time you shift, don't consider living in such a neighborhood!.
Good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

Ok OZ girl, here's the rundown on noise!. This is a normal reaction by the way!. Both the amount of noise and the length of time you are exposed to the noise determine its ability to damage your hearing!. Noise levels are measured in decibels (dB)!. The higher the decibel level, the louder the noise!. Sounds louder than 80 decibels are considered potentially hazardous!. An audiologist certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) can conduct a hearing evaluation to determine if you do have a hearing loss!. If you are routinely exposed to noise, you should have your hearing checked by an ASHA-certified audiologist on a regular basis, at least once a year!. In almost all states, a license to practice audiology is also required!. The noise chart below gives an idea of average decibel levels for everyday sounds around you!. Painful noise is:

150 dB = rock music peak

140 dB = firearms, air raid siren, jet engine

130 dB = jackhammer

120 dB = jet plane take-off, amplified rock music at 4-6 ft!., car stereo, band practice

Extremely Loud
110 dB = rock music, model airplane

106 dB = timpani and bass drum rolls

100 dB = snowmobile, chain saw, pneumatic drill

90 dB = lawnmower, shop tools, truck traffic, subway

Very Loud
80 dB = alarm clock, busy street

70 dB = busy traffic, vacuum cleaner

60 dB = conversation, dishwasher

Moderate
50 dB = moderate rainfall

40 dB = quiet room

Sounds louder than 80 decibels are considered potentially dangerous!. Hair cells of the inner ear and the hearing nerve can be damaged by an intense brief impulse, like an explosion, or by continuous and/or repeated exposure to noise!. You really need to protect yourself from all noise levels 80 decibels or higher at all costs or your hearing will suffer later in life!. Not to alarm you but noise not only affects hearing!. It affects other parts of the body and body systems!. It is now known that noise:

Increases blood pressure
Has negative cardiovascular effects such as changing the way the heart beats!.
Increases breathing rate
Disturbs digestion
Can cause an upset stomach or ulcer!.
Can negatively impact a developing fetus, perhaps contributing to premature birth!.
Makes it difficult to sleep, even after the noise stops!.
Intensifies the effects of factors like drugs, alcohol, aging!. Noise can also hamper performance of daily tasks, increase fatigue, and cause irritability!. Hopefully you will be able to work out these issues without moving out!. Noise is all around us especially in the cities!. I hope this information helps you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know if it's normal, but I go through the same thing!. i get very sensitive about the noise around me!. When my neighbors are playing their music very loud or if I can hear the TV through the walls, or even hearing kids outside yelling and playing, it drives me up the walls!! Sometimes I feel like I am going crazy, especially on the weekends when everyone is home and playing the radios and TVs and playing outside!. I feel like crawling up the walls!

My ultimate goal is to move somewhere with very little neighbors!. It is important to me that I can preserve my sanity!. You need to decide how important it is to you, too!. Mayeb you should look into moving, it might now be such a bad idea, it may be good for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
