What should i say to the GP???!

Question: What should i say to the GP!?!?!?
I'm 18 years old fm!. Been ill a lot lately over the past year with recurring tonsilitus(will be getting them out soon) so been to the GP and seen most of the doctors in the practice!.

Anyway thats not the problem!.!.!.i want to go about the way i feel and ask for advice!. I've been self harming, unhappy loads, angry, drinking a LOT and just generally been having problems!.

The thing is i'vealways seen the GP for more sort of like medical problems(like my tonsilitus) so im really worried he's going be like 'what are you doing!.!.!.get over it!?'

I really don't like the way things are rite now and do want change which i can't seem to make myself!. Thats why i think i need help!.

Another problem is that i have a HUUUGE problem with talking about feelings and stuff!. I get so embarresed!. Sometimes i just choke up and can't get anything out!. I once tried to talk to my mum n burst out in tears :S (this as a while ago though)!.
And they all know mfrom my tonsilitus!.!.also not goodWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
okay seriously
they wont be like 'wft are you doing'
1)ring up the doctors surgery
2)say 'i would like to book an appointment to speak to my doctor' they shouldnt ask!.if they do say youd rather not say!.
(if they ask how long it will take, say 10-15 minutes)
3)go to the doctor at arranged time
4)say:::
'ive also been worried about the way ive been feeling
in the past (however long) i have been feeling realy down
and have been self harming!.
i dont know what to do about it
but i want to stop'

they will ask to see (incase you need medical attention)
they will ask you a few questions:::

how long have you been doing it
is there any reason
do any of your friends do it
has anything changed recently
have you ever tried to kill yourself
do you overdose

it wont be too personal, mostly that!.
then the GP will make a suggestion
it was suggested that i go to the drop in centre
the doctor will sort it out for you!.
it is totaly voluntary
and if you dont like it, you dont have to go!.
dont worry, it will be okay <3

it is a good thing to do!.
well done for even just considdering it :)

i hope everything goes okay!.
and if you need to talk!.!.!.

GP's aren't trained with a psych residency and they are really not the one you want to talk to!. Ask for a referral to a psychiatrist and I'm sure your GP will be happy to give you one!.

Don't worry about talking about your feelings to a psychiatrist, they have heard it all!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you are in school, talk to your counselor!. You can also begin to write down the feelings that you have!. Try to find a good friend who will be there to support you and listen to you!. If you go to church, you can find someone there who will listen and offer advise!. good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you need counseling!. go and see your doctor!. please don't be afraid!. that's what they are there for!. once they have diagnosed your problem!. then you can start enjoying life!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I also thought it would be so tough to bring up the subject with my primary doc!.!.!.but it wasn't so tough after all!. I just said,

"Lately I've just not felt like myself!. I'm tired and unmotivated!. I just feel like I'm sinking deeper and deeper into a black hole and I can't get out!. Dishes and laundry pile up!.!.!.my life is just a big chaotic mess!. I think I may have depression!.!.!.what do you think!?"

My doc agreed and prescribed some antidepressants which have just worked wonders!.

The first step in these kinds of situations is admitting that something is wrong!. After that!.!.!.it gets better!. Tell your doc the truth about what's going on!. If you can't talk to your doc!.!.!.then find a new doc!. If your doc doesn't take you seriously, please please find a new doctor who will take you seriously!.

good luck!.
