Question: My mate self harmin =[!?
I bin lookin on Yahoo Answers for info before but dis is mi first question so here goes!.!.!.
My m8 is a self harmer, she has had a very bad childhood!. She fancys me and recently she carved mi name into her arm wit a knife!. I feel real guiltiy coz i know its my fault she harms!. What can I do!? An also how long wil she still av the scars!?

firstly its not your fault she self harms!. its not your fault she had a bad childhood!. your friend needs to get help, and i know from experience how hard it is in your shoe's, you are not a councillor, or a doctor, you need to look out for yourself because having a friend whorelies on you like this for this issue is hard and can cause you to become depressedor whatever!.

You shouldn't feel guilty, you aren't the reason she self-injures!.
Your friend needs help, especially if she can carve someones name into her arm!.
Because she had a bad childhood there is probably abuse that occured and abuse can lead to a very unhappy adulthood!.
Talk to your friend and tell her that she isn't worthless, recommend that she see a therapist!.
There's also a self-help book, Cutting: Understanding and Overcoming Self-Mutilaiton by Steven Levenkron, you could buy it for her and give it as a gift!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is NOT your fault that she self harms!. Even if you had told her that you did not fancy her and then she started doing it, it is still not your fault!.
People who self harm do not do so because of just one thing or person unless they have done something that would affect them for the rest of their lives (eg!. rape)!. If she has ahad a bad childhood then i would say that this has affected her and she is self harming because of everthing that has happened in the past as well as any problems in her life at the moment!. ll you can really do is let her know that she can talk to you if she wants to, and let her know that you will be there for her if she needs you!.
Scarring all depends on the depth of the cuts, the place on the body and how easily she scars naturally!. (pale skin usually scars worse and for longer!.)Www@Answer-Health@Com

You cant do nothing to help im afraid it is up to her when she should stop, all you can really do is support her and let her know you are there for her, perhaps talk to her and go and see a counsellor with her!. Just carry on supporting her, and she will eventually have the strength to stop!.

its not your fault if you wernt around she could have just as easily carved burger king into herself you can try sitting her down and telling her you dont like what she is doing and she should stop explain to her she dont need to do it
