Answers:
aripiprazole is a partial dopamine agonist, which means that it can enhance dopamine function in the brain if it is low, but it will reduce dopamine activity if it is excessive!.

Enhancement of dopamine function is known improve mood, this is how psychostimulants work and some atypical antidepressants such as bupropion!.

Antipsychotic effect of aripiprazole is in the "moderate" range compared to other neuroleptic drugs, in other words it may not be sufficiently effective!. Ask your doctor about other stronger neuroleptic drugs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Everyone's brain chemistry is different, so it makes sense that the med could affect you the way it has!. Your psychiatrist might want to try something else to help rid you of the voices, but for now just be thankful that you aren't depressed!Www@Answer-Health@Com
