pills made me worse at first and i didn't want to take them, either!. until i found the right combination of them!. for the first year of trying to find the right one or two, i was like a roller coaster!.
so what you have to do is be patient and work with your doctor!. hopefully you have a doctor who will be patient and listen to you when you say, 'hey, this seems to be taking the edge off, but not helping enough' or 'it's just making me worse' or 'this is perfect'!.
you have to give pills a little bit of time to kick in!. usually you won't know the full effect of if it's working for a month!. and you have to take it as the doctor orders or it can mess you up (if you take it inconsistently)!. is this something that you take at the same time every day!?
so don't be scared, but be patient!. keep in touch with your doctor during the first couple months especially!. tell someone who you are close with that you are trying something new and ask them to watch for any sudden changes!. i've been having my future husband and mom do that with me right now because i just weened off of two anti-depressants and my mood stabilizer (so i can get pregnant :)!. if someone knows you well, they will notice if you become more anxious or irritable or just aren't yourself!.
good luck!. i never wanted to take a drug either!. sometimes with the chemical imbalance it's the best way to go!. what i told my doctor and therapist was that i wanted to use the medication as a tool in helping me to be able to cope with my underlining problems!. as i learned new coping skills and re-trained my brain through therapy, i found i didn't need the medication as much anymore!. that might be something to consider!
i hope everything works out for you!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, I can identify with how you feel!. I have panic disorder!. For over 30 years now!. I've had therapy and medications!. The only one that worked was Xanax and it worked too well and I ended up hooked on it!. :( It was hell getting off it!.

I, too, get worse and have panic attacks when given new medicine!. So I most of the time don't take any meds!. I do take my blood pressure pill (the first time my blood pressure went up because of the panic of being scared of the pills side effects) and my prilosec (same thing) and once in a while when I'm feeling especially nervous, I will take a half of a Xanax!.

Foods such as chocolate, and drinks with caffeine send me on a loop too!. Once time at work I had a headache and took an Excederin!. About 20 minutes later I full in full blown panic mode!. I looked at the pill bottle and saw caffeine as an ingredient and knew why I was panicing!. Caffeine sends my heart racing!. So maybe you should cut out caffeine!. And lots of sugar too!.

I'd suggest you go the natual route!. Go to the health food store or section of the grocery store and buy some Valerian!. It will relax you and help you sleep without any side effects!. Also take up yoga, meditation, breathing exercises, or any relaxation techniques that work on you!. There is a self help group, Recovery, Inc!. Look it up in the phone book or on the web to see if there is a group near you!. Then take yourself to a meeting!. You will meet other people who feel as you do, and will learn techniques to help you thru the day!. I know of one person who cured themselves of this by joining the Toastmasters!. This group introduces and teaches you public speaking!. Trust me, if you learned how to speak in public and practiced with the Toastmasters, then any other simple social activity will be a piece of cake to you!.

Good luck to you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
