Do I have PTSD?!

Question: Do I have PTSD!?
I was just wondering if I had PTSD!. I have almost all the symptom, but I don't have the flashbacks, which might be the problem!. However, my father left me (which is very tramatic to me), in Grade 6 and I didn't react at all (I pushed it out of my mind) until grade 8, and now I have all the rest of the symptoms (though I'm not aggresive exactly, more irriable)Www@Answer-Health@Com

If the issue is your father leaving you, it's more likely you have an anxiety disorder or unresolved grief issues - PTSD generally happens when the trauma is perceived to be life threatening- like getting hit by a car or living through a tornado or something like that!.
PTSD is more likely to develop when the trauma is caused by a person- like an assault rather than an earthquake; and its more likely when the trauma is repeated, like domestic violence rather than a mugging!.!.!.
That said, I'm not saying you don't have PTSD, mind you- I don't know your life, and I have no idea what other traumas you may have suffered-

You really do need to go to get evaluated by a doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Anything is possible, but no one on here can diagnose you as having PTSD only a trained professional can do that!. If you think you have PTSD you should make an appointment with a therapist and get tested!. I have PTSD and was misdiagnosed for years until I finally found a Dr!. who knew what I had!. It takes years to get better sometimes, depending on the treatment and the Dr!. Just because you have symptoms does not mean you have the "disease"!. The same symptoms can be depression so if you want to know for sure find a Dr!. We can't tell you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

talking to a licemsed proffessional who knows wat they r doing is the only way!!! PTSD is actually over diagnosed!. It is also an anxiety disorder!.
And it affects ppl mainly who were raped, assaulted, veterans, trauma survivors or survivors of natural disasters etc, etc!.!.!.!. iT usually happens due to hiiigh stress !.
Signs that r very typical of PTSD are recurring haunting memories and nightmares, jumpy anxiety, social withdrawal, even insomnia etc!.
If u really think u hav eit u seriously need to tell ur doc or find a psychiatrist!. And if u don't have PTSD then maybe u have some otehr kind of trauma or this past event affected u in a negative way and so u should talk about it and get help/advice if u feel u have something!. Good luck and try and move on with your life by getting help for this!. U deserve it!:)Www@Answer-Health@Com

You really ought to ask a psychologist; your case is too complicated to be diagnosed by non-professionals like me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That fact that you wonder if you have PTSD, might be a good indication that you do indeed have it!. I suffered a traumatic childhood, but I thought this was all normal! I only thought of this when I became a mother--so it was quite a long time between trauma and PTSD!.

I believe your father leaving you at such a young age could indeed be causing you symptoms!. This is big! If he had died when you were in grade 6 you would have been shocked but you also would have gotten closure!

Don't forget your in puberty now, and you will have up and down mood swings!. This can be normal too!

I think you should talk to a counselor at school-or ask your mom to call for an appointment with a therapist!. School, homework, social life is hard enough, but then you throw in PTSD--can effect your health, anxiety, memory trying to study for test, appetite (up or down), and sleep!.

Writing in a journal all your fears, concerns, who you are angry with, who you love--what your future will be like--can be beneficial!. I did both--journal writing and therapy!.

Therapy will teach you self reflection!. That's all there is to it!. You talk about what's bothering you, and over time you grow and get stronger, and suddenly the boogieman does not scare you anymore! You will have the strength to open the door and show him out!

It also helps to look at life this way---we all have different paths in life to follow until we get old and die!. We have all made good and bad choices in life and suffered the consequences of our actions!. This is part of being a HUMAN being!

Learn all you can and learn to love challenges!. I am greatful for my PTSD because it has made me realize what is really important!. Money, jewelry, fancy cars--who cares! I love people, and that's all that matters!

Best of luck to you and I'll think of you often!Www@Answer-Health@Com
