Are people with Borderline Personality Disorder capable of empathy?!

No it doesnt mean that at all!. I have BPD for alot of years but I can feel empathy for people!. I do know that relationships are very rough on someone with BPD!. It's he!! having it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i have had borderline peronality dosorder with histrionic traits for many years!. (i am 36yrs old) in all my years of reseach i have never come across someone with BPD that are self centered and consumed w/their own emotions! these are the traits of BPD:
Affect

chronic/major depression
helplessness
hopelessness
worthlessness
guilt
anger (including frequent expressions of anger)
anxiety
loneliness
boredom
emptiness

Cognition

odd thinking
unusual perceptions
nondelusional paranoia
quasipsychosis

Impulse action patterns

substance abuse/dependence
sexual deviance
manipulative suicide gestures
other impulsive behaviors
Interpersonal relationships
intolerance of aloneness
abandonment, engulfment, annihilation fears
counterdependency
stormy relationships
manipulativeness
dependency
demandingness
entitlement

i believe whole heartedly that i and others with BPD can feel empathy!.

NOW with histrionic personality disorder is a different story all together!. and to me thats what you seem to be talking about! here are the traits of histrionic personality disorder:

Be uncomfortable unless he or she is the center of attention
Dress provocatively and/or exhibit inappropriately seductive or flirtatious behavior
Shift emotions rapidly
Act very dramatically
