I don't keep them secret, but I don't focus on it (unless someone is reviewing my book draft)!. It's just another aspect of my personality, not to flaunt, not to deny!.

The venues in which I am comfortable disclosing my condition are in mental health settings (duh), with friends and with family!. I'm also lucky to have an extremely supportive boss at work!.

But what is "the public"!? Is it the world, because I don't know everybody in it!. :) If I were famous I can be sure it would come out, but I'm not worried!. Tomorrow is the anniversary of my serious suicide attempt!. I've been in therapy for six years and it's old news to me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Mental disability!? Sounds like you've got self esteem problems if you refer to it as a disability!. Personally, I am who I am and if people don't like it, they can f**k off and die!.
Having mental illness doesn't mean I'm disabled at all, I'm smarter than all the people I work with combined, I'm much more efficient and effective!. In fact, if anything, people complain that I'm too smart!.
I don't know where you got the disabled part, but if that's how you feel - that's all on you - and is part of the reason you're not getting any better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ABSOLUTELY NOT!
I have quite a few mental problems, but I am a smart kind person!. One doesn't affect the other!. I am disabled, because I cannot work even a part time job, but in the past, I have babysat, visited the nursing home and read to residents, volunteered at the Library, and spoke to local groups and written in local publications on mental health advocacy!. Currently, I am involved in NAMI, DBSA, and Procovery facilitation groups!. Too many people are ashamed of mental illness, and to hide it only makes the stigma worse!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Why would I share with the public that I had diabetes!? It's no different!. Close friends, family, boss!.!.!. yep, they know!.

I don't feel particularly disabled or think of myself as such, btw!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
