Question: Scared to sleep, feel like i'm going to die!!!?
Hi guys,
I'm so scared right now, it's 4:30am and i havent been able to sleep tonight as im insanely worried!.

I have bad anxiety problems bu tonight has been mega-bad, i had a couple of glasses of wine and have been anxious all day!.

The thing is I keep dropping off to sleep and then waking up like seconds later with this weird feeling!. I feel like ive died for a second and then jumped back into life, i hate this!!!!

Now im just too scared to sleep, i dont like this feeling, what is it i feel like i just want to cry!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't worry! I know that's easier said than done!.

I think I suffer from axiety attacks when I sleep aswell- well it's either that or nerve problems!. The Doctor said that if it's anxiety then breathing into a bag for a while should help!.

I've read so much into panic attacks and they seem to be caused by your body wanting to take in more oxygen caused by the fight of flight response!. Because you have too much oxygen (or maybe carbon dioxide!?) this causes symptoms such as pins and needles or a tight chest!.

Your paranoia is probably heightened by the scary sensations!.

I'm actually awake now because of a mild anxiety attack and I'm going to stay awake untill it's completely gone!. I am getting really fed up of it, but I'm also slowly getting used to it!.

Keep going to the Doctors and having more tests!. I'm having a nerve test on the 12th and if that comes up OK, I'm going to insist on having more tests done!.

I had a major panic attacka few years ago where I was convinced I was going to die!. It did not get better untill someone told me it was a panic attack!. Knowledge is power!. If you know what is going on with your body then you should start feeling less scared!.

Search around for panic attacks!. Read into the process of it and how you can make yourself feel better!.

I hope it goes soon!. All I can advise you to do is slow your breathing or try that bag technique!. Also keep insisting for various tests and some type of therapy!.

Also, if you live in UK, ring up NHS Direct!. I do that when I have panic attacks, even though I know it's nothing dangerous it's just reassuring to hear it from a Doctor!.

If they tell you to do breathing techniques such as short, shallow breaths, be careful with this as I tried it and it only made me feel like I was going to faint!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This is Somniphobia (fear of sleeping)!. It's fairly common especially in people who suffer from anxiety or OCD!. You're certainly not alone in having this problem!.

There's quite a bit on the internet about it!. Do a search on Somniphobia & you'll find a lot of helpful stuff!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you are experiencing this because you haven't slept in a while just relax cry if you have to and get some sleep the longer you stay up the worse it will get!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I do that, too!. Someone here says we should see a doctor!.!.!.!.I think they are right!. I KNOW EXACTLY how you feel!. I think we stop breathing!. Knock on wood!.
Actually I know that's what's happening in my case, and the older I get the worse it gets!.

i have issues with sleeping to (anxiety thing)!. i dont know if this will help, but i check doors and windows are locked!. look under/ in all possible hiding places!. then i get in bed and think of something happy!.

You poor thing, whats wromg!? Just lie down!. Read something nice to take your mind off of dying!. Then you will fall asleep reading & yoor book will be on your mind & not death!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Get a sleep hypnosis CD and play it as you are going to sleep!. There are some really good ones out there!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
