Medications for a minor?!

Question: Medications for a minor!?
Hello!. I am going to my family doctor very shortly [we could not afford one of the psychiatrists that my psychologist reffered us to, and the other did not take people under eighteen]!. My parents and I are going to talk about being put on medication for depression!.

What medication would they perscribe me if I told them my symptoms!? My symptoms are: feeling that I have to cry but can't, exhausted but can't get to sleep, serious lack of motivation, severe feelings of in adecquecy, always feeling hopeless, major irritability, my appetite has sky-rocketed, among other things!. I also have a lot of anxiety and paranoia!.

So, what do you think they would advise me to take!? I am 17, so I'm not sure what medications they are allowed to perscribe me - besides Prozac!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Students at our school have had good success with Lexapro and Wellbutrin!. Your Dr!. will know best what to prescribe!.

Take it exactly like you are supposed to, and if you're not feeling better in a few weeks let your Dr!. know and he'll try something else!.

Hope you're feeling better soon!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't believe that anyone should take medication unless you really need it!. I think people rely too much on medication and not enough about healing themselves!.
I think that you should only take the medication if all else fails!. You need to open up and honestly face your feelings and your problems!. I am not saying you don't need medication just that maybe you should concentrate more on dealing with the issues before medicating
Hope all goes well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't take Prozac!. It only works short-term and then the dosage has to be moved up and up!. It's not a good drug!.
There are so many anti-depression medicines out there than I can't tell you what he/she will try!. It may take a while to find one that works for you!. I had a lot of medications tried on me till I found one that worked!. You have to try to be patient, it may take a while!.
Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
