Question: A question on people who take their lives!?
first of all, i'm not suicidal, so don't go there, thanx!. so, the question is - if you can relate to these people and understand them, just share your thoughts, why you think they do it or have the right to do it!. i believe, unless you can help someone, you shouldn't say it's a negative thing to do or call them cowards, etc!. so, what do you think; thanxWww@Answer-Health@Com

I definitely agree with you!.
To be called a coward for attempting suicide will, more than likely, do more harm than good!. Thinking about death is NOT something to be messed with!.!.!. especially dealing with those that have attempted to take their life!.
And those who handle the situation with very little compassion disgust me!. I don't think they understand the internal battle suicidal people deal with everyday!. Their lives are more fragile than the average human-being; but mankind has learned that by insulting others, making them feel less, or being rude makes THEM stronger!.
And by THEM being 'stronger', the suicidal person will usually falter back into thoughts of suicide!.

Constant sadness is NEVER fun, and some people feel it's justified to just end it!. They feel like there is no hope!.
They do not understand how precious life is because all they think life is is pain!.
That's how the depressed, suicidal mind can work!.

I have had suicidal thoughts before, like a lot of people!. But I don't anymore!. My friend committed suicide in highschool and I don't blame her, but I wish she could've seen the impact that it had on the world around her!. I think it's a bad idea to take your own life, but I understand that people can do things on impulse, or when things get out of control!. I think they feel like they have no control on their life anymore; like what they do doesn't matter anymore!. Most people look down on people who commit suicide because they are happy go lucky or can't see a depressed person's perspective!. This is what I believe!.!.!.!.
I wish I could've helped her at that time!. She told me she was a little depressed, and I think I just told her that things would "be fine" because I had just fallen in love and couldn't imagine being upset!. i've never had anyone in my family or any of my friends commit suicide, but a lot of them self harmed or were suicidal, as am i/was i!.
im not suicidal anymore
ive only seriously attempted it once!.
but there have been many times when i was so close to just saying "**** it!."
i know its kind of a contradiction
but i dont think its right for people to kill themselves, i mean i guess they have the RIGHT to do it
but i just wouldnt want any of my friends doing that, i'd be kind of angry at them for doing that knowing the emotional pain it would put me in!.
but i cant go and call suicidal people cowards

I believe there are two kinds of suicide, and only two:
1!. is the kind mentioned by a previous responder, when a person has a terminal disease and no hope of recovery, is in his or her right mind and makes a careful, conscious choice that is thought out over a period of time, preferably with help!. I believe one has the right to do this, if sane!.
2!. covers ALL other circumstances, in my estimation: mental illness!. I don't see it as selfishness, or any of those other things, but rather a "permanent solution to a temporary problem!." I am married to a man with a mental illness!. He tried suicide, got help, and now, fortunately, with treatment, is FAR FAR from suicide, but he will always need treatment, as this is a disease!. I learned that phrase from his psychiatrist!. If a person is mentally ill and commits suicide out of that illness, then it is to be prevented and the person treated, I believe!. He is glad he didn't succeed, as is our whole family!.

The only suicide that I could justify in my mind as being acceptable was a family friend who was diagnosed with brain cancer!. His wife had been an oncologist nurse for years so he knew what was in store for him (and her as his caretaker)!. He was in his late 60's and their children were grown and well established, etc!., etc!.!.!. He took steps to make sure his family didn't find him first and he left detailed letters to his wife and children!. I know it is still suicide, but I didn't feel that it was anyone's place to question it given the circumstances!.!.!. it was still painful for his family, though!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
i attempted suicide three months ago!. i'm a 16 yo female!.
i felt like i had the right to do it because it was MY life!. i thought maybe one or two people would care but they would get over it!. i had no will to live and just wanted to lay down and give up, so i tried!.

i worked on 2 different ambulance companies for 2 & 1/2 years!.!.!. i've seen a lot!.!.!. i've seen a 12 yr old that put a double barrel shot gun in his OWN mouth and pulled the trigger!.!.!.
so if this bugs anyone, i really don't care: as an ex-EMT, i have NO SYMPATHY for anyone that is thinking of commiting suicide!.!.!. life is WAY too precious for your own selfish "bad-mood" or whims!.!.!.
i've seen babies of just a few months old fighting cancer to live - i've seen old folks that were on the cusp of death, and yet, they FOUGHT it to stay alive LONGER!.!.!.!.
don't give me crap about how life's SO HARD that suicidal ideation just pops into your head and it's SUCH an easy way out!.!.!.
that's bull - it's a chickensh!t way out of having to deal with your own problems
my homie has a brain tumor - he was in surgery last January for 18 hours and lost SIX TIMES HIS BLOOD VOLUME!.!.!. in October it came back - he had radiation-lazer-treatment to kill it - the tumor is STILL there!.!.!.!.
has he given up on life!?!?
NOPE!.!.!. he bought himself a harley davidson!.!.!.
someone that is TERMINAL can see how WONDERFUL life is and FIGHT to live, then someone that has a TEMPORARY woe, like breaking up with a boyfriend or spending too much money or crap like that should be able to see it too!.!.!.
i don't relate, i don't understand, and i have NO SYMPATHY for anyone that is FORCE-FED charcoal to make them throw up so they can puke up the meds they took as a "sign they need help"

[EDIT] - yeah, i've been there - the only time in my life that i was suicidal was when my sister & my brother-in-law were on drugs, and bringing them into my house - i'd lost my job, i lost my house, my jeep & my dog within 3 months time!!- so there i am, crying myself a pity party with my !.25 in my hand and an idea in my thought to just "END IT" - i thought "if i blow my brains out, my sis will hafto clean all this blood & brains before my mom sees it - and since my sis is soo strung out on drugs, she prob'ly WON'T clean it up, so my mom will hafto do it after all"

i have been very very very very depressed, to the point where i just shut the world out!. but committing suiside has NEVER EVER crossed my mind!. to me(just my opinion) there isnt anything that bad that can make me kill myself!. because of the impact on others!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
