Question: What's better for aggression Benzos Or Anti psychotics!?
So the situation is I've been on various anti psychotics (Zyprexia, Respiridone, Seroquel) over the past few years for 'psychotic features' AND aggression!.
Whilst these medications have helped with the 'psychotic features' and have lessened my aggression some what, there's still a significant amount of aggression there!.
My doctor has decreed not to put me on any benzos because of their addictive nature!. Physical causes for my aggression have NOT been ruled out (ie!. Epilepsy or head trauma)
But assuming they had been ruled out, does anyone have any experience with either or both of these types drugs and does anyone know which is better in the treatment of the chronic aggression I seem to be experiencing!?!?
Any input from people who've had to take either of these meds for anger would be good! Did either of them work!? Did either of them ever make you worse!?!Www@Answer-Health@Com

i have been on both!.!.!.i found that benzos are very habit forming drugs!.!.!.yes they have their benefits but they can create more problems than help with your aggression issues! when i was taken off the benzos my anger become worse! the withdrawals from the benzos (Valium, xanax, ativan) is the worst experience i have ever been put through!
i am currently taking seroquel and a ton of others meds for my disorders and i have to say seroquel has been a life saver for me and it is NOT habit forming!. i don't feel the rage i once felt! don't get me wrong there is NOT a medication that is going to take your rage away (that's something you have to work on through therapy) but there are some meds that can help stabilize your mood!. hence helping with the rage and anger you experience!.

I'm not sure if you have been diagnosed with a MI or not!. I have agression problems and am BP!. Am on both Seroquel and Ativan which is a benzo!. When I feel the rage coming on I make sure I take my seroquel because the aggression dissapates within a few minutes!.

benzos, but be careful they can be addictive, and anti psychotics are for bipolar and psychotic disorders that produce disorganized thinking, hallucinations,odd behavior, and things of that nature!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
