What does it mean to suffer from mania?!

Question: What does it mean to suffer from mania!?
Answers:
Mania is a state of psychomotor excitation!. Its onset most often comes through inversion of a melancholic mood, either spontaneously or owing to treatment for depression!.

The manic mood is euphoric, changeable, and accompanied by emotional hyperesthesia!. The subject exhibits pathological optimism with an overestimation of the self and unrealistic plans that sometimes lead to delusions along megalomaniacal lines (grandeur, omnipotence, messianism)!. The expansiveness of mania is associated with agitation, expressed in hyperactivity and hypermimia!. It is also accompanied by tachypsychia ("rushing thoughts"), an acceleration of the thought processes externally manifested in logorrhea, graphorrhea, hypermnesia, and distractibility!. Hypersyntony, a immediate and increased receptivity to stimuli from the outside world and a loss of the ability to discriminate between important facts and details, gives the impression that the subject is closely emotionally attuned with his or her surroundings!. Reduction in the duration of sleep, sometimes to the point of total insomnia, is a constant clinical sign!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Mania is one of the moods experienced by people with bipolar!. On the spectrum of moods, it is opposite of depression!. People with mania often feel very energetic, creative, difficulty sleeping, flight of ideas, irritability, anger, difficulty controlling impulses, spend lots of money, have promiscuous sex, and high risk behavior!. People experience mania differently depending on the individual!. For some, they enjoy the rush and the feeling of powerfulness the goes along with mania!. Others feel angry and irritable!. It can be very dangerous because of the high risk behaviors and the impact on loved ones!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The two above forgot that mania can include psychosis - delusional, hallucinating, truly irrational and disorganized thinking!.

Hypomania is subthreshhold mania!. It would include things like loss of impulse control that only resulted in spending $5,000 that you didn't have (I've done this a few too many times)!. Mania would result in spending $50,000 (I just spoke w/a woman who recently went on a spree)!. Psychosis is always mania (I know a few who've been there)!. Going to jail is always mania as is landing up on the psych ward (know a few here, too)!. Hypomania, however, is what most ppl see and think of as mania!. Mania itself is virtually never fun (per most anyone who's truly been manic including myself will tell ya, unless they were totally delusional in a good way)!. Hypomania, however, can be very euphoric in an all round good way!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

there are many symptoms of mania - including being paranoid, feelings of supremity, spending/gambling/drinking to excess, having promiscuous sex, risk-taking, etc!.!.!.

however, what they don't mention all that often, is that simply being extremely IRRITABLE/ANGRY a *LOT* of the time can also be a sign of mania!.!.!.sometimes the ONLY sign!.!.!.which is why it took a decade for the docs to figure out i am bi-polar!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
