How do I help someone with depression?!
Question: How do I help someone with depression!?
I understand depression, but my husband is so depressed that he can't get out of bed (and hasn't for 2 days)!. This all stems from his mother being a complete b*tch!. It's not really that simple!. He has dealt with addiction problems up until about 2 years ago!. Now he is really trying to get his life together and he's in counseling and really doing a good job!. Essentially he doesn't know his birth father, and his mother remarried when he was 7 (he's 30 now)!. His mother continued to stay with this man even though he beat her child!. They had 2 other children, but he never laid a hand on them, he was jealous of my husband!. But, he was/is verbally abusive to all of them!. He always wants approval from his mother, but she treats him like crap!. Now she randomly stopped by our house on Sunday, just to be a jerk for 5 minutes, then left!.!.!. I don't know how to help him!. I can't get him out of bed and he's incredibly emotional!. Any advice for this would be really apriciated!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

From personal experience, be really careful with him!. He is obviously very fragile, and just about anything you say or do is going to seem like you are having a go at him!.
In saying that, try to get him out of the house, preferably to somewhere serene, but if that is not easily done, just somewhere he feels safe, not too many people around!.
Good food, a little light exercise, and lots of reassurance!. Remind him that he has somebody who loves him very much and will do what she can to be there for him when he needs her!.

Is he going to AA or NA!? That is a great place to start if he has any addictions!. Everyone there will understand and they can show him how to work the steps that will put him in the 'sunlight of the spirit'
