Answers:
Sounds like some pretty serious depression or anxiety related issues that a psychiatrist should handle!.

As to why!? Well it really depends on the cause!. One cause is a drop in neurotransmitters that effect mood like serotonin and and increase in stress hormones!. Stress hormones!.!.!.!. well they stress the body and in severe cases can lead to physical pain!.

Psychosomatic pain is where a mental problem causes the body to feel physical pain!. Again differences in hormones can contribute to this but in some cases that doesn't seem to be the problem!. If you take medications to regulate mood hormones and still feel physical pain from mental distress then its pretty apperant that hormone levels are not to blame!.

The top causes for such pain are physical and sex abuse, childhood neglect/abondonment from one or both parents, drug abuse, and the death of a loved one - especially if you're a mother who lost a child!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you have physical pain you can take a painkiller and problem solved!. But with mental pain most likely you have to let it go away on it's own!.

I'm in emotional pain right now and like you said my chest hurts!. The worst thing it's that it is a pain that it's trapped there inside and i don't know how to let it out!. Talking to somebody helps but the pain is still here!.

I think what makes mental pain hurt a lot more is that we are unable to get rid of it as easy as physical pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
