Question: Are there psychologists who specialize in treating persons who are developmentally challenged!?
Are there psychologists or other mental health professionals who specialize in treating persons who are developmentally challenged!?
Many people who experience stress, trauma, loss, or other difficulties choose to see a mental health professional of some sort to help them work through their problems and find solutions or treatments!.
But what if the person who has experienced these or other things is also developmentally challenged!. This would present a huge barrier and conventional approaches would probably fail!.
I am writing this because I know such a person who I think would benefit from seeing a mental health professional due to the changing circumstances of their life!.
Where should I start!? What referral might the person's family doctor recommend!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

It would depend on the cognitive level of the person, If you have a psychologist talking who usually works with adults dealing with a person who's cognitive level is about age 8 you have problems!. So it would depend on the cognitive level of the person that you're talking about!. You don't say who this person lives with with and whether they are in any kind of program for people with developmental disabilites!. IF they are that is where I would start because they have the experince and the referrels that you would need!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
