Around 11 years old I started to get panic attacks so bad I couldn't leave my house!. I would beg my sister to walk to the store with me and would avoid school!. I never even told my Dad, I just acted like I didn't want to go to school!. I think I tend toward having anxiety and when traumatic things happen (at 11 it would have been my parents horrible divorce), I get anxiety attacks and get depressed very easily!. I just want to point out how bad it got to show you I know it's possible to do it without medication!. After about a year of this, as it got progressively worse, I started to get more and more pissed off that I was so crippled, and I felt like I was doing it to myself!.

I made the decision to just start facing everything that I "thought" I was afraid of!. Forced myself to walk to school or the store by myself!. I didn't know at the time that I should have also been working on my self esteem, but if I had I don't think I would have had so many recurrences of the anxiety up to my now 26 years!. Whatever triggers your anxiety attacks you have to face it!. If you use medication it will alter lots of things inside you and will only cloud your insights and achievements as you start to overcome it!.

I just went through a recurrence because my mother passed away!. Very bad almost nonexistent relationship with her and her passing brought them on again!. It wasn't as hard this time and recently have been going to counseling to make sure that I get everything worked out correctly this time!. You can do it without medication!. Face your fears, see a counselor who is willing to listen and work on you with you, and work on your self esteem!. I would love to stay in touch with you if you would like to email!. I never had a support group and I bet that would have made it that much easier!. I KNOW you can do it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try Fish oil (Omega 3) 1000mg 2 capsules twice daily!. Dollar General is the cheapest place I have found!. I know this sounds very silly, or at least I thought so when I read about the studies!. I was so tired dealing with my anxiety that never left me and panic attacks I was willing to consider anything that wasn't harmful!. I am not into health foods/meds/vitamins either!. Anyway, their are about 10 studies that I found (non double blinded) that found when people took anti-depressants and fish oil in about 2-4 weeks they reliesed that their anxiety was extremely diminished or gone!. If you have bi-polar and anxiety it does a double job!. The physician I work for also does research and thought I was kidding and laughed at me!. I showed him some of the studies and he tried it him self, thank heavens, and then seen the difference it was making and started others on it including his teanage son, now he is prescribing it!. For about 20 cents a day what have you got to lose!. If you are not on a medication like Paxil, Effexor, Celexa, ect you may really want to go see your family doctor and request it!. The down side to these meds is that they take 2-4 weeks to start working much at all and then 2 months to be at their dosage peak, the only exception to this is Lexapro and not its sister Celexa which is working well in a week!. Good luck & may God blessWww@Answer-Health@Com

Yes!. I have!. Peolpe told me how for several years, and I just didn't listen, but I have finally started trying it, and it works!.

Here is what you do!. When you are having a panic attack, stop what you are doing, close your eyes, and visualize playing with 4 fluffy cute puppies who jump on you and yip and lick you!. Visualize falling in the grass and puppies playing with you, and you laughing!.

Okay, that's one of my go to visualizations!.!. You need a list of different ones that make YOU feel happy and calm!. Start trying to find out what those may be!. Different ones work at different times!. Sometimes puppies do nothing for me, but visualizing myslef being perfectly safe in a big invisible hand of god works!. Sometimes, that one won't work, but imagining that my brain is a beautiful lake on top of a mountain (I'm the mountain,) and every worry or thought is a pebble or drop making ripples in the lake, and watching the lake become calm!.!. works!. I have a book of really good visualizations called Starbright Meditations for children!. It is perfectly good for adults!. I do one every night, because the more you practice, the better you get at calming your mind!.
Also, every day, write down at least 5 things you are grateful for, and review it and add to it when possible!. Try to think of everything you are lucky to have and be!.!. and FEEL grateful, right in the middle of a panic attack!.

Breathe deeply 30 times!. Not just ten!.

Go to the doctor and tell her that you want to find out if anything physical might be causing adrenaline to be dumped unnecessarily into your body!. Sleep apnea, for example, and many other treatable medical problems will do that!.

Get off the caffiene, sugar, and any type of food additive speed!.

Do Yoga!.

You can retrain your brain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The only thing that worked for me was getting my mind focused on something else - which is hard to do while you're in the middle of a panic attack but can be done!.
The best thing for me is to get in the shower (b/c of the physical stimulation) and having a radio on while I'm in there - something "live" so that it changes from music to traffic report or whatever (just something that gets your attention)!.
If you don't have access to the shower during a panic attack, try changing scenery and find something to focus on!. For example, if you're inside when one hits, go outside and try to find the most odd thing out there!. Once you find that "odd" thing (let's say a deflated basketball in someone's yard), ask yourself every question you can think of about it, such as:
How did it get there!? How long has it been there!? How come no one has retrieve it!? Then let your mind wander!.!.!. I wonder if a dog has peed on it since it's been lying there, etc!.
If this technique doesn't work with one thing, keep looking for something until your mind starts to focus and wonder about it!. I tend to walk around when I have panic attacks and desperately seek out this "magic" item!. Sometimes it's several items b/c I can't keep my focus, but it kills time trying to find something that will help - and that's what it's all about, killing time until the panic attack passes!.
By the way, panic attacks are usually not life-long issues!. Mostly they occur in your 20s/30s, and you grow out of them!. Mine used to be often, now they are very few and far between! Your day will come too!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've had tons of panic attacks without any medication and they were always really bad since I have two heart problems!. I would just let it run it's course until I started feeling better!. I've had quite a few where I could feel one coming on in a department store that I had to put everything down that I wanted to purchse and leave the entire store!. I finally got on Lorazepam and feel so much better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

After my mum died in an accident, I got them all the time for about a year!.

I really thought I would explode and die!.

I dont get them any more!.

Caffeine always made it worse, I think!. And lack of sleep!. And eating too much sugar!.

Eat only healthy foods and no sugar or anything that contains caffeine!. Get lots of sleep and fresh air and excersize and let time pass!.

There is no easy solution!. Likely something happened in your life to have these panic attacks happen!. Time helps a lot!.

And just forget about them!. If you wait and expect them to happen, then they will!. 'Oh them again'! say to yourself in a bored tone!. 'Please, I have lived through this before'Www@Answer-Health@Com

1!. Consult a naturopathic doctor!.
2!. Challenge your thinking!. Ask yourself how realistic whatever you are panicked about really is and rate it on a scale from one to ten!. Also, distraction can help!.
3!. Consult a competent psychologist, they do not use meds!.

Whatever you do, do not take benzodiazepines!. (Xanax, Ativan, etc!.) Get the facts at;

Yes!. We have to go through about one panic attack a week, at the least!. We basically just sit with friends who make us laugh and let that cheer us up!. Basically, get away from it all, and have a good time!.

I don't recommend drugs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can go w/out meds as long as you still get behavioral therapy and EMDR can be effective as well!. Maybe biofeedback also!. Medication is a mere bandaid!. See a therapist like an LMHP!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
