Please tell me you experience with Lexapro?!

Question: Please tell me you experience with Lexapro!?
I've taken Wellbutrin for some time with success, but am about a month into a break from it only to find the blues and cranky-ness creeping back!. I'm also noticing that physically I feel better, that perhaps it was the Wellbutrin causing my constant eystrain headaches and tummy problems!.
My doctor would like to put me on a different medicine, and suggessted several!. After research, I think Lexapro might be best!.
I've never been on an SSRI before and my biggest concerns with side effects are fatigue (problem there already) and weight gain (just vain, lol)!.
I did try Effexor last year, no way on that one!.
Can you tell me what you have dealt with on Lexapro or if you've swithched from Wellbutrin, what did you go to!?
I've been off for a month and my depression is mild-moderate!. I am, however, the queen of side effect for almost anything!.
Thanks for info :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've been on Lexapro for over a year and a half - and it has done good things for me!. If you do take it, and it makes you drowsy, you might ask your doctor to reduce your dose and see if that helps!. I was taking 20mg and wanted to sleep a lot - and going to 10mg took care of that, plus it still worked okay for the depression!.

When you get off the Lexapro, you do need to wean yourself off very slowly - I stopped taking Lexapro for a while last Summer, and I went from the 10mg pill down to the 5mg pill (the smallest dose they make), and took that for a couple weeks!. Then, I cut the 5mg pills in half (with a pill cutter) and took that for a couple weeks, then the half pill every other day for a week, then stopped!.

Best of Luck! Paul!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ive been taking lexapro for about a year now and it's been fine for me!. Like all depression medications it takes a couple of weeks to kick in but if you take it on schedule and try not to miss any doses it should be fine, yet depression medications work differently with different people!. I've noticed a difference in myself though since i've been taking it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sorry, but for your own sake, asking for advise about how someone else responded to Lexapro or any anti-depressant is not the same circumstance like asking how did you respond to taking an aspirin!. If you are the "queen of side effects for almost anything" you can pretty much assume you will definately experience the same side effects with Lexapro that you did with similar anti-depressants!. You might want to consider if meds is the wrong avenue for you if they create more problems than they seem to solve, and it is simply a fact that these drugs can worsen psychological illness in some cases!.

Notice the contradiction from the answer below:

"!.!.!.it takes a couple of weeks to kick in but if you take it on schedule and try not to miss any doses it should be fine, yet depression medications work differently with different people!."

--You should be fine but it works differently with different people!? This is actually my whole point!. There are people whose brain chemistry will definately NOT respond well to SSRI type anti-depressants because of possible serotonin receptor numbers, bad reactions to serotonin being kept in a constant active state within the synapse between neurons, OR possible other hormonal and neurotransmitter imbalances that occur because serotonin is being kept in a constant active state!. If you just want all the "good news" about anti-depressants and other psychiatric meds you'd might as well listen to the advise of TV advertisements!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
