How do I tell my friend I can't help her?!

Question: How do I tell my friend I can't help her!?
I am a recovered Anorexic and recently my friend has been displaying some indications that she probably is developing disordered eating!. She keeps asking me for diet tips and telling me that she's starving herself!. She knows I have had extensive problems in the past, but I don't think she understands that if I start thinking and talking about these kinds of food issues again it could be damaging to my own mental health!. I do not want to sound mean, but I don't think I can help her without it triggering my own disorder!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ok she knows you had a problem but she obviously doesn't get the fact that you recovered (congratulations by the way!!!) Tell her as simply as you told us "I'm sorry but if I start talking about this I may relapse and I don't ever want to be anorexic again!." Instead of sharing what she wants to hear- the diet tips, etc- tell her what kind of damage the anorexia did to your body!. Make her so scared she doesn't want to do it!. If she keeps on after that you may want to alert her parents (dunno how old you guys are you didn't say) or someone close to her!.
I know this may be the hardest thing but if she is putting your mental and physical health back in danger you may have to tell her that you can't hang out with her if she's going to talk about that!. Tell her anything else is fine but that is off-limits and if she doesn't get it then, it might be best to break the relationship!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tell her exactly what you said in this question: If you start thinking about these kinds of food issues, it could be damaging to your own mental health!. Then suggest she see a professional (counselor or something) to help her with her issues, as you can't do it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

why dont you introduce her to someone who can help her!? and let them deal with it and take a step back!. I have an eating disorder as well and i've noticed when ever i'm around people who share the problem it gets worse!. So if you've beaten it, do everything you can to keep it that way xWww@Answer-Health@Com

OMG! im sooo sorry youre going through this!. i went through something similar my friend used to cut herself and i tried to help to the point i thought her not getting better was my fault!. i thought, as her bff, i should be making her happy!. that caused me to have low selfestime and anxitey and other stuff!.
you are doing the right thing by not giving her tips!. if her parents dont know about the prob you should tell them!. its important they need to know!
