Answers:
Sometimes wanting to "get attention" isn't wrong!. Every human being needs a certain amount of attention!. Most of us get this from our friends and family!. However, if there is a disorder present, or there is something wrong with the relationships, people will resort to other methods, like threatening suicide!.

This does need to be taken seriously!. Many people who talk about suicide do eventually go on to attempt it!. I would talk to someone about it (you know better than I do who can be trusted)!. She needs someone to work with her/change what they're doing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your friend may have heard this from someone at school saying they are going to kill them self!. She probably thought that if she said that, she will be liked by more of the other girls at school, or that maybe you'll tell them what she said to you and she will be liked by more of the other girls!. If you find that it's becoming a problem, you may want to talk to her mom about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If someone is feeling very depressed, then they are going to cry out for attention, of course they are!. I have bipolar, and when something has triggered me that I cannot cope with, I have tended to become suicidal and rave on about killing myself, and more often than not, a part of me does wish I could do it at the time!. It is a desperate wish for things to be solved!.!.!.to feel better!.!.!.it is hard to describe really, but to merely see it as attention seeking would be incredibly shallow and short sighted!. This illness can give you such incredible lows and such awful mood swings!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

People who commit suicide often talk about it first!. Whether or not she is serious, my advice is the same!.

Insist she call the suicide hotline!. Do you know where she lives!? Page down to look up hotlines by state here

http://suicidehotlines!.com/

If she's outside the US, Google it to get other numbers!.

Encourage her to seek help, groups or other resources in her area in addition to the hotline!. Do some searches and tell her where to find help!. Tell her you are really worried about her!.

If she is serious, this might help her get to a better place!. And if she is not serious, your constant badgering for her to get help might get her to drop the subject, or at least bother someone else, instead!.

But you should always take someone seriously if they talk about suicide, if they feel they are being dismissed, they might decide to "prove it" to you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well!.!.!. she IS Bipolar, right!? They have suicidal thoughts a lot when they're in the manic depressive stage!. Maybe the medication she's on (if any) isn't helping!. So yes, she's crying out for attention from someone, her friend, because she needs help dealing with her disorder!.
She needs support!. Like the other people have said, get her help or give her the suicide hotline number!.
I know it gets old when it seems fake (I have been there with friends!.!. like all of highschool I dealt with that from people, including a boyfriend)!. Eventually you just feel helpless, and then annoyed right!? It's understandable, just also realize that she feels helpless too!. She needs help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Many of these responders are idiots!. You have to take this friend seriously!. It's not attention!. She needs you to care!. She feels useless!.

She needs an anti-depressant medication and should see a psychologist!. She needs things to do!. She should get out of the house and go walking in a beautiful area!. She needs to join a work out class!.!.!. be with people!. Aerobics helps a lot to clear out the cob webs!. Getting the blood flowing really helps everyone!. Suggest these things and/or a yoga class or Tai Chi, a dance class!.!. sports!.!.!.something!.

You are blessed for caring!.

Yes!. Next time call the police and send them to her house!. You can report anyone who is a danger to themselves or others!. They will commit her for 72 hours observation!. That should probably get it through her head that it is something not to be taken lightly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

She might be trying to get attention!.

Or maybe she has a hard time!. Settle a meeting with her at a restuarant or something and ask her why!. Maybe she has some problem you can help her with!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

sometimes when a Bipolar goes through the depressive phase of the illness it can cause thoughts of suicide, but it might also be she wants attention, but any talk of suicide should be taken seriouslyWww@Answer-Health@Com

I would tell a trusted adult!. I have been suicidal, and what kept me alive were the two friends I had who made me know they loved me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
