lorazepam is widely used in psychiatric hospitals, as a way of relieving 'agitation', someone who is extremely anxious, or 'high' (as in bipolar) very wound up or angry, or extremely upset, it is used in these situations to calm the person down!. regular use can lead to addiction!. it is also prescribed in the community, but of all the people i know, they don't get to stay on it long term, it isn't really used to manage a person long term, its usually to get people through a 'tough time' they may be experiencing due to mental illness or serious stressful events!. the usual side effect is drowsiness!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
i have been on ativan before and it really made me very sleepy and sometimes found myself falling alseep earlier than usual!.it is for anxiety!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
