Question: Can Someone Help Me Stop Cutting!?
I started cutting about 3 weeks ago!. I was feeling down and out of curiousity I tried it!. The thing is it helped!. I told my best friend and she is trying do get me to stop!. My parents know i did it but they think I stopped!. I told my therapist and she says if I keep doing this she will have to hospitalize me!. I told my bff that and she thinks I should go but I don't want to cuz it seems like it wont help!. I've been trying to figure out a way to stop but its really hard!. I lasted 8 days but I caved in!. can anyone help me out!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't waste your time with Kevin's solution!. Trading one problem for another is a bad idea!. He's suggesting what we in the civilized world call, "a bandaid"!.

Take it from someone who at 35 years old carries very heavy scars from his teen years!.

You need to address your specific problem that is contributing to your depression!. You are trading one pain for another and it neds to stop!.
If you can't figure out what is contributing to your issuses than you have no other alternative than to see someone!. You know it's a problem!. Other people recognize it's a problem!. Your not going to find the answer to your issues here by asking a group of strangers!.
There are counsellors there for a reason!. They do work whether you'd like to admit to it or not!. I think your more mainly concerned with being one of, "those" people that surrendered yourself to professional help!.

Point is!. If you can't make the decision on your own, it's time to get someone that will help you make the best decsion for you!. This is how people get strong and persevere through life!. We all live off of one another's experiences and wisdom!. Do yourself a favor!.

Go talk to someone!.
Whats it going to cost you!? Maybe a little pride!?
Big deal!. This is your state of mind we're talking about, not a common cold!.
Ive been there and Ive gone far beyond just your average experimentation!. Fix the small problem before it avalanches into an out of control, full blown, tectonic plate shifting disaster!.

Don't argue, don't doubt it, stop making excuses!. Just stop what your doing, confide in your parents and JUST GO!

People mutilate their bodies for many reasons to include attention from others and special treatment!.

You need to find out why you are self mutilating and then address the reason or reasons!.

Lack of mental stimulation can be a reason as can boredom!. There are many psychological theories but the truth is that if you get involved with groups, causes, sports, hobbies, work, school you won't need to mutilate yourself!.

You should go into the hospital as you might get into a good one that will have groups and counselors who will confront you about your behavior in an effort to help you to change your behavior!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I used to cut myself as well, it was the only way to feel pain, I stopped after I saw how bad it hurt my dads feelings that I would do that, despite he beat the sh*t out me it hurt him to see me hurt myself, because living with inflicted pain was all I knew, if you are old enough go get a tatoo instead of just cutting, I got my first tatoo at 16 honestly it was the most relaxing thing I ever didWww@Answer-Health@Com

I think its best to seek a counselor or a professional!. This is not a simple problem to solve!. Please help yourself by letting others help you!. It's good that you know you have a problem and wanting to solve it!. You're not in too deep of a problem but still I would advise seeing a specialist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ok if you only started three weeks ago you need to work hard to stop NOW because it only gets worse do the rubber band on the wrist squeeze an ice cube throw your blades away go for a walk when you want to cut do not isolate yourself

Cutting can become a habbit!. Try to hurt yourself in less harmfull ways!. One way it to stick an elastic band around your arm and ping it!.!.so you feel pain, but no real harm is done!.
Just try your best to stop it and you will eventually!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I used to cut when I was in high school!. So i can relate!. I was also doing more self destructive things as well!. YOU need to get to the hospital if you cant stop on your own!. You are crying out for help!. I an relate to your feelings of being helpless to your situation!. Tell your parents you are still cutting yourself!. They will help you!. And do what the other poster said, go for a walk, call a friend!. Do something else when you get the urge!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Meditation technique

Most of our problems stem from the mind!.
Situations are what they are, but our mind puts a whole new spin on it, often for the worse!.
This leads to a lot of the pain we feel, and being consumed by the pain we act from it, hurting those we care about!.
This is true for all people in all positions of life,except babies!.

So rather than be controlled by the mind, we should learn to control it!.
It is hard to directly do so rather we can control its most obvious manifestation, the breath!.
You'll note that when you are very concentrated you won't breath as much, or when angry shallow and rapidly!.
How to control the breath!.
Inhale and as you do pay attention to the column of air entering your right nostril(air enters both sides, but focus on the right side for now)!.
Exhale and feel the column exit on the left side(air exits both sides, but pay attention to the left)!.
Inhale through the left nostril, exhale through the right(same as previous steps)!.
Inhale and feel the air in both nostrils rise to the top of your nose like an inverted 'V', then force it all out in one breath!.
This counts as one cycle!.
You can go up to 100 in a day, and make a game of this!.
If you lose track of the count restart!.
As you get better you'll notice your breathing slowing down!.
Once you slow down enough, the mind slows down, to the point you can feel a space between thoughts!.
As you advance further you'll learn to identify yourself with that peace, not your painful past nor the vices you had!.

Tell your parents please!. This has to stop!. my sister use to do the same thing as you, i was the one who out a stop to it!. We share a rooma nd when she'd leave id take away her knives that she cut herself with!. She never said anything and then she stop as i was taking it away from her!. You have to realize that your hurting yourself and the people around you!. Please think of your family and yourself, 8 eights is good but perhaps if u talk to someone who does this as well they can give you better advice!. I only know how hard it is to see the cuts on someone you love, itso so horrible and sad!. Please if u cant stop, think if ur family that you are stopping for them !. please tell them you need thier help, they will it may not help at first but it will in the long wrong!.
