Could i be bipolar?!

Question: Could i be bipolar!?
first of, im not self-diagnosing myself as bi polar like younger teens seem to be doing these days!.
i've always had short term mood swings, most people do!. but about two years ago after my dad died myself and some of my closest friends had noticed a dramastic "change" in the way i act!.
one minute im perfectly fine and calm and literally the very next second i get really upset and depressed and start crying or sometimes i get extremely mad and frustrated, its really unbelieveable with how extreme my mood changes so quickly!. and it really takes nothing to make me upset!. even the smallest things will make me extremely upset for no reason!.
my boyfriend and my bestfriend (who is actually diagnosed and treated for bipolar) said that they think i am bi-polar, i don't really think i am but what do you think!? should i see a doctor of some sort or am i just thinking too much about it!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
If you want to find out for sure if you have bipolar disorder, you should see a psychiatrist!. Psychiatrists are trained to diagnose mental illnesses, and if they determine you are bipolar, they can prescribe medications that can help you!.

You don't really sound bipolar to me though!. I'm bipolar, and the longest episode I've had lasted 11 months!. I doubt you've been having an episode for two years!. Here are symptoms of mania (I've been really bad manic once):

Lots of energy
Decreased need for sleep
Talkativeness
Think you can do things that really are impossible
Angry when things don't go your way
Hypersexuality

Here are symptoms of depression (I've had two depressive episodes):

Decreased energy
Don't find pleasure in anything
Feel guilty about things it doesn't make sense to feel guilty about
Think you are worthless and want to die

Here are symptoms of a mixed episode (I've had a few):

Increased energy
Decreased need for sleep
Cry a lot
Lots of anger
Panic attacks
Feel worthless and like you want to die

If you match any of these three mood states, you may have bipolar!. Otherwise, you can probably conclude that you don't have it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would go see a doctor regardless,It will make you feel better knowing what is really going on,It is only normal to be upset and miss anyone that is close to you that has past!.May god be with you! There is medicine that can help you cope with your loss as well!.!.Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know, you sound as if you could be but I think the source of your sadness comes from losing your father!. I would be devastated if my father died and I am sorry for your loss!. I think you need to learn to deal with your fathers death if it still bothers you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should see a doctor just in case!. You may have it and you may not!. I wouldn't dwell on it!. I thought I did and it turned out to be something different but still a mental illness!. Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
