Guidance counsellor never met with me...depressed, what do I do?!

Question: Guidance counsellor never met with me!.!.!.depressed, what do I do!?
I've been fairly depressed for quite some time now, a few years, and I've never gone to see a professional for help so it's not likely that I have depression, or I've never though I had it!. Anyway, it took a lot of courage for me to write a meeting slip to my school counsellor (he is actually for grade 10s and I'm in 12) but I wanted to talk to him because he already spoke to me in grade 10 so I don't want to "notify" more people about my feelings, I would feel uncomfortable!. However her never got back to me and I know that a few kids in my grade have gone to see him!. What should I do, I don't want to write another slip out, it might seem, needy!.!.!.even though I do need to talk, it's good to talk to friends, but it's good to get help from others to who are more skilled I guess I could say!. I'm reall disappointed that he never sent a slip back to me!. I don't know what to do!. I need to talk to someone!. I'm afraid to see a psychologist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

!.!.!.so if anyone asks!.!.!.!.you went to the Dr!. And, yes, a psychologist IS a Dr!.

The embarrassment and hesitation and fear you have to speak with a stranger about your feelings!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.is NORMAL!. Everybody feels that difficulty to trust, and uncomfortable in the first visit!.
Psychologists know this, and will do what they can to help you feel as comfortable as possible!.

A person with that much education and skill has gained valuable knowledge!. This understanding can be shared with you!.!.!.tailored to your specific need base!. Often we can get stuck in how we do what we do!. Stress builds and we don't know how to make our life work for us!. And so, the psychologist / counselor / therapist coaches us as we learn new skills to deal with life, learning how to get our life into a balance we can maintain for a long time ahead!.

Try this: Take a 3X5 card!. Briefly write your problems/ issues on one side of the card!. On the back side, write your questions!. Take the card with you to your first visit!. Having it in your hands will help to take the edge of nervousness off!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There is no need to be scared of the psychologist, they would try to hellp you after building a bond with you!. The school counsellor may have misplaced your request!. I would write again and say urgent this time!. As you are depressed for some time and seriously so!. dont be scared of telling the truth, it may save your life in the long run!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well if you honestly think there is something wrong, your best bet is to go speak with someone!. if depression is truely the case, then your guidance counsellor can transfer you to a phsyciatrist who can assist your further in helping you get treatment!.
and i know its hard to go see him again but think about it this way: the hardest part was going to see him [taking the first step], now that thats done, what more do you have to fearWww@Answer-Health@Com

I know how you feel!. I decided to talk to my guidance counsellor in grade 10!. She couldn't do much so she recommended the child and youth worker at school!. It took me a while to open up completely to her, but now I talk to her alot!. I'm in grade 11 and will be in 12 next year!. She recommended I see the school social worker!. He recommended I get counselling outside school!. It was really scary for me to go there at first!. I used to dread my appointments, but now I love them!. Really I was scared just like you were!. But I decided fear wasn't going to run my life, adn it shouldn't run yours either!. I know how scary it is, but trust me, once you get passed the fear, it isn't bad at all!. I'm starting to get better!. Whatever you do, just get better!. Hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'd fill it out again if you liked/felt comfortable talking to that person!. If not, look somewhere else for help!.

Seeing a counselor/psychiatrist isn't a scary thing!. And it does not mean you are crazy!. Everyone has problems!. And sometimes friends aren't the right people to turn to!. These pros aren't on any "side" and won't stab you in the back!.

For me, i DID NOT like my school counselor!. And I chose to see a professional!. I liked talking to her!. And it helped me a lot!. She referred me to a psych!. about a year ago, and I've never felt better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
